John M. Tedeschi Pediatric Institute
In the fall of 2009, Virtua established the John M. Tedeschi Pediatric Institute. The mission of the Institute is to marry Virtua's pediatric program of excellence to a robust research arm that seeks out evidenced-based best practices in pediatric care with research that advances the health of children in this country and, perhaps, around the world.
It's fitting that the Institute is named for Dr. Tedeschi. During his 40 years as a pediatrician, he has demonstrated his concern for children's health and has been especially active in developing health programs for underserved children.
Dr. Tedeschi will lead a philanthropic fundraising effort to generate $25 million to support the pediatric program and facility enhancements, and to establish the center for research.

The McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
NFL Pro Bowl Quarterback, Donovan McNabb, and his wife, Raquel, have partnered with Virtua in an initiative that will benefit families throughout South Jersey who need maternity and pediatric services. The McNabbs have made a six-figure donation to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the new Voorhees hospital, which is now under construction. They also have committed to help raise $2.5 million to fund the construction and technology needed for the NICU.
In 2004, the McNabbs' daughter was born in the Voorhees hospital. When they learned they were expecting twins five years later, they returned to Virtua. When the McNabb twins were born, they spent two weeks in the Virtua Voorhees NICU. Grateful to the doctors and nurses who cared for their family, the McNabbs were eager to channel their gratitude in a positive way that would help other families in their same situation. Their fourth child will be delivered at Virtua as well.
The completed NICU will be named The McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in honor of their dedication and commitment to Virtua and the families it serves.

In recent years, the Foundation's fundraising initiatives have supported the valuable improvements or additions of a number of facilities and programs throughout Virtua. Some of these include:
- Renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department at Virtua Memorial
- Renovation and expansion of the Emergency Departments at Virtua Voorhees
- Construction of new operating rooms and Coronary Care Unit at Virtua Memorial
- Renovation of the operating rooms at Virtua Marlton
- Construction of state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery centers in Mt. Holly and Voorhees
- Renovation of the Scarborough Center for Women and Children at Virtua Voorhees
- Renovation and expansion of the Maternal/Child Health unit at Virtua Memorial
- Creation of the Barry D. Brown Health Education Center in Voorhees
- Creation of a Community Health Center in Lumberton
- Construction of the William G. Rohrer Center for HealthFitness in Voorhees
