Students are enrolled in the Helene Fuld School of Nursing (HFSN) program upon successful completion of specific general education courses. The nursing program is structured to be completed in two academic years (four 15-week semesters). The curriculum is comprised of a theory component and a clinical component. The theory component is taught in the classroom as well as through hybrid learning. The clinical component of each core nursing course exposes students to hands-on clinical nursing education offered at our major teaching affiliates Virtua and Cooper University Hospital, as well as a variety of health care facilities in the region. Graduates receive a diploma in nursing from HFSN and an Associate in Science degree from Camden County College. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Curriculum Objectives
Upon completion of the nursing program, the graduate will be able to perform the following for diverse individuals, families and groups with multiple and/or complex health concerns:
- Demonstrate critical thinking in nursing practice.
- Apply the nursing process to promote, maintain, and restore health in acute and community settings.
- Utilize effective communication to collaborate with diverse individuals, families, groups, and other healthcare providers in the achievement of optimal health outcomes.
- Integrate relevant evidence-based nursing and related concepts, theories, and principles to promote optimal health in diverse individuals, families and groups.
- Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for nursing practice based on ethical, legal, and professional standards.
- Integrate the roles of caregiver, teacher, advocate, counselor, and care manager in nursing practice.
- Utilize technology effectively and appropriately in nursing practice.
Further Education
The faculty of HFSN believe that learning is a life-long process. Graduates are encouraged to view nursing education as a continuum of educational preparation for nursing practice.
The HFSN has relationships with colleges and universities in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania for the completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing. Students are encouraged to meet with representatives during our annual career day. These schools offer HFSN graduates an opportunity to enter their programs with advanced standing by receiving credit for courses taken in the pursuit of a diploma in nursing from HFSN and associate in science degree from CCC.
RN to BSN Dual Enrollment Opportunities for currently enrolled HFSN students
Dual enrollment provides qualified enrolled students at Helene Fuld School of Nursing with the opportunity to apply and be accepted to an RN to BSN program while they are completing their entry level nursing education at HFSN. You must be accepted for admissions to HFSN to apply for dual enrollment and meet the admission requirements for the institution you are applying to.
