James Rivard is the senior vice president of support services at Virtua. He oversees supply chain, capital acquisition and facility development departments. He is responsible for all contracts, capital purchases and construction projects. Rivard had a critical role during a major expansion period for Virtua, which included the new 680,000-square-foot Voorhees hospital, and three new health and wellness centers.
Prior to heading up support services, Rivard held a variety of positions within Virtua, including assistant vice president for clinical resource management and hospital affairs. He was also administrative director for ancillary clinical services at West Jersey Hospital – Camden. Rivard’s other posts at Camden included director of electrodiagnostics, physical therapy, respiratory care, and pharmacy. He began his career with Virtua as a pharmacist in Camden and Marlton hospitals, and was originally a pharmacy student at Marlton.
Before joining Virtua, Rivard was a pharmacist at Cooper Hospital, Caremark Homecare, NMC Homecare and Hampton Hospital. He received a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He earned his MBA with a concentration in accounting from the University of New Hampshire. He is an active volunteer at the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden on behalf of both Christ Our Light Church and Virtua.
