Virtua has a long tradition of providing outstanding pediatric emergency care, inpatient care and pediatric intensive care to the children of South Jersey. 
In a unique strategic partnership with CHOP – the renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia – the physicians providing pediatric care at Virtua are members of the prestigious CHOP medical team. And, as the needs of the community grow, this clinical alliance will grow, enabling children and their families to receive the highest level of specialty care right here in the community.
CHOP physicians provide the level of care you have come to expect at Virtua, reinforced by the academic level expertise that has made CHOP a leader in pediatric medical research and education. CHOP is one of only eight hospitals on U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll. And, with 8,000 births a year, Virtua is known for caring for thousands of children of all ages each year.
CHOP-employed physicians provide evidence-based pediatric services in the following areas at Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Memorial:
- Inpatient pediatric units
- Marvin Samson Foundation Pediatrics and Pediatric ICU (PICU) - Virtua Voorhees only
- Neonatal intensive care (NICU) – Virtua Voorhees only
- Special care nursery - Virtua Memorial only
- Emergency departments
Virtua Voorhees Hospital has a dedicated Women and Children’s Pavilion that includes:
- State-of-the-art inpatient pediatric unit
- Pediatric intensive care unit
- Pediatric emergency department
- Pediatric and teen playrooms
- Pediatric garden and play area
- Family lounge
Directly adjacent to the Voorhees hospital, the Virtua Health and Wellness Center is an expansive outpatient center where CHOP at Virtua pediatricians and Virtua pediatricians have a substantial presence.
Services include:
- Pediatric Specialty Center including CHOP at Virtua
- Virtua Pediatric Sleep Lab in partnership with CHOP
- Pediatric urology
- Pediatric orthotics and prosthetics

Expanded innovative pediatric care at Virtua Memorial
A new $9.5 million Pavilion is open at Memorial. It centralizes care for both emergency and in-patient pediatric patients – maximizing accessibility to medical resources and personnel for the highest quality care. The Pediatric Pavilion offers:
- Eight emergency treatment beds
- Three minor injury chairs
- Five inpatient beds
- Ronald McDonald family space
- Playroom for children
- Rest area for patients and siblings
- Media center for patients and families
The Pavilion is staffed by CHOP at Virtua physicians and by pediatric nurses— care providers who understand the unique needs of children.
