As a parent, it's natural to worry about your child's health. That's why it's important to maintain regular checkups with a family physician or pediatrician. Pediatricians specialize in pediatrics, a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases in infants, children and teens. Virtua also has a comprehensive range of pediatric specialists, right in South Jersey, to better care for children in their communities.

More CHOP at Virtua than ever before

Virtua and CHOP have expanded their services to enable children and their families to receive the best possible health care close to home. Virtua’s partnership with the nationally renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) provides excellence in evidence-based pediatric medicine from two premier hospital locations in Voorhees and Mount Holly.

CHOP physicians provide pediatric services in the following areas at Virtua Voorhees and Virtua Memorial:

  • Inpatient pediatric units staffed by pediatric hospitalist who are in-hospital physicians
  • Neonatal intensive care units (NICU) – Virtua Voorhees only
  • Pediatric intensive care units (PICU) - Virtua Voorhees only
  • Special care nursery – Virtua Memorial only
  • Emergency departments staffed with pediatric physicians
  • Sleep medicine staffed with a pediatric neurologist and a pediatric pulmonologist
  • Telemedicine pilot project – Virtua Voorhees only
  • Pediatric imaging/radiology

Virtua Voorhees Hospital has a dedicated Women and Children’s Pavilion that includes:

  • Marvin Samson Foundation Pediatrics and Pediatric ICU
  • Child Life Specialists to help children and families manage illnesses
  • Pediatric emergency department
  • Pediatric and teen playrooms
  • Pediatric garden and play area
  • Family lounge

Virtua Memorial has a dedicated Women and Children’s Pavilion that includes:

  • Inpatient pediatric units staffed by pediatric hospitalists who are in-hospital physicians

Directly adjacent to the Voorhees hospital, the Virtua Health and Wellness Center is an expansive outpatient center where CHOP at Virtua pediatricians and and a CHOP Pediatric Specialty Center. Services include:

  • Virtua pediatric Sleep Lab in Partnership with CHOP
  • Pediatric urology
  • Pediatric orthotics and prosthetics
  • Imaging/radiology services for children
  • On-site pharmacy

Virtua’s alliance with CHOP ensures that South Jersey children and their families are served by highly skilled physicians, have access to the most advanced technology, and are treated in a compassionate and caring environment by people who are dedicated to the highest clinical quality and safety.

Expanded innovative pediatric care at Virtua Memorial
Virtua Memorial opened a new $9.5 million Pediatric Pavilion. It centralizes care for both emergency and in-patient pediatric patients – maximizing accessibility to medical resources and personnel for the highest quality care. The Pediatric Pavilion offers:

  • Eight emergency treatment beds
  • Three minor injury chairs
  • Five inpatient beds
  • Ronald McDonald playroom
  • Rest area for patients and siblings
  • Media center for patients and families
  • CHOP at Virtua physicians and pediatric nurses— care providers who understand the unique needs of children
