Virtua Wound Healing Center

The Virtua Wound Healing Center is located on the campus of Virtua Berlin, where comprehensive wound care and prevention services are provided in a comfortable outpatient facility.

The Center is staffed with experts devoted exclusively to wound healing therapies and treatments. Advanced therapies include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which allows patients to breathe in a greater amount of pure oxygen than they normally would. Oxygen helps to improve blood supply, which generates healthy tissue. In turn, the healthy tissue supports faster, deeper wound healing.

Wound-care specialists include:

  • Physical therapists
  • Nutritionists
  • Registered dietitians
  • Advanced practice nurses
  • Endocrinologists
  • Physicians specializing in infectious disease
  • Surgeons, including foot and ankle, plastic, vascular and general surgeons

Wound management plans are customized based on individual patient needs and may include the following services:

  • Special dressings
  • Pressure relief
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Debridement
  • Vascular assessment
  • Edema control
  • Nutritional support
  • Pain management
  • Diabetes education
  • Infection control
  • Pain assessment and management
  • Patient and family education
  • Lifelong follow-up care to minimize recurrence
