Virtua once again honored as a best place to work
Virtua, South Jersey's largest healthcare provider, has once again been honored by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a Best Place to Work in the Delaware Valley in the 1,000-plus employee category. Virtua has received this honor for seven consecutive years and has secured its place in the Hall of Fame for the last five years.
Evaluated by its employees, Virtua ranked above hundreds of other prestigious organizations based on the strengths of its benefits and programs. The award highlights Virtua's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of working conditions and company culture.
“Virtua’s first priority has always been to create an environment where employees can thrive and be motivated to deliver an outstanding customer experience to the people we serve,” says Richard P. Miller, Virtua President & CEO. “An important focus is our dedication to hire, develop and retain the best people to ensure this outcome.”
This latest recognition continues to affirm the organization's commitment to its employees. Virtua has also previously won top honors from the
Philadelphia Business Journal and from
NJ Biz for its focus on employee wellness programs.
"We promote a culture of wellness at Virtua with the mission of helping people be well, get well and stay well,” explained Mr. Miller.
Hall of Fame winners are companies that have placed at the top of their size category in two or more years, according to the
Business Journal. To find the region's top employers, the
Philadelphia Business Journal asked readers to nominate their own companies. Employees then rated employers based on trust, job satisfaction, benefits, communication and engagement.
On a monthly basis, Virtua’s leadership meets with employees and conducts monthly sessions with a 30-person employee advisory group. In addition to regularly recognizing its employees, Virtua provides a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package. Virtua also offers educational opportunities for professional growth, including tuition assistance, and wellness programs, a tobacco-free environment and child care.
As one of New Jersey’s largest health systems, Virtua helps people be well, get well and stay well through a comprehensive range of health care services. Services are delivered through three health and wellness centers, three fitness centers, four acute care hospitals, primary and specialty physician practices with more than 240 physicians, urgent care centers, seven ambulatory surgery centers, home health services, two long-term care and rehabilitation centers, 12 paramedic units and a wide range of outpatient services. A leader in maternal and child health services, Virtua delivers almost 8,000 babies a year. Virtua also provides employment and wellness services to 1,700 businesses and corporations. An innovator in clinical and information technology such as electronic medical records, Virtua is recognized for its ground-breaking partnerships with
