New center to bring full spectrum of care to Moorestown
Virtua will open the doors to its new Health and Wellness Center in Moorestown in late 2012 – the first of its kind in Burlington County. This 200,000-square-foot, five-star facility will provide the community with a new opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing.
Designed to be the premier source of health and wellness services, the center is geared toward keeping people healthy and helping those who are not so healthy better manage their condition. It will provide easy access to physicians, exercise, nutrition and support programs.
The center is part of a comprehensive network of Virtua health and wellness centers designed to serve residents of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and surrounding counties. Virtua’s existing health and wellness centers are located in Washington Township and Voorhees. “Moorestown is the perfect location for our newest Health & Wellness Center,” says Richard P. Miller, Virtua President and Chief Executive Officer. It will serve the residents of Moorestown, Mount Laurel and the surrounding communities of Burlington County.
The center will offer medical services including: imaging, physical rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, and diabetes and nutrition counseling. There will also be physician offices providing primary care, pain management, surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology and neurosciences.
An Immediate Care Center will treat unexpected, minor injuries and illnesses that might have traditionally been treated in the Emergency Department. These include broken bones, cuts, and illnesses such as bronchitis or the flu. The goal is to have patients treated and released in less than 75 minutes.
For wellness needs, there will be a state-of-the-art spa as well as a fitness center complete with lap, aerobic and warm-water therapy pools; the latest weight training and cardio equipment; professionally trained and certified fitness instructors as well as all of the amenities one would expect from a five-star facility. There will be medically supervised fitness programs for weight loss, arthritis and cardiac conditions.
And for added convenience, the center will also offer amenities such as a grab-and-go café and on-site child care for visitors while they are using services.
The Moorestown center builds on Virtua’s long-standing commitment to serve Burlington County. Just a short drive down Route 38 is Virtua Memorial – a 433-bed, full-service regional medical center that has served the community for more than 130 years.
Together, Virtua Memorial and the Health and Wellness Center in Moorestown bring a full spectrum of care to the community, delivering, a broader access to the highest quality of care, when it’s needed most.
Virtua is also proud that in this time of economic distress, this project has created additional construction jobs. Once opened, the center will bring 300 permanent jobs to the community, approximately 230 of which will be new jobs, and 70 relocations from other Virtua facilities.
