Virtua physician achieves female pelvic medicine certification
Joseph Maccarone, MD, Director of Virtua Female Pelvic Medicine, is a highly trained specialist in female pelvic medicine and urogynecological problems. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Maccarone recently became board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery as soon as the first board certification exam in the subspecialty was offered this past summer.
Dr. Maccarone is widely respected in his field, so it is fitting that he is one of the first physicians in the region to gain board certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery,” said James Dwyer, DO, Virtua Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer. “He is a dedicated physician and has been recognized as a Top Doc for women in South Jersey many times by various publications.”
For more than twenty years, Dr. Maccarone has provided diagnostic and comprehensive treatment for pelvic floor disorders including pelvic organ prolapsed, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, sexual dysfunction and congenital anomalies.
Many women who experience pelvic floor conditions suffer needlessly,” explained Dr. Maccarone. “As a practice devoted exclusively to female pelvic medicine, we know the prevalence of these conditions and we understand what our patients are going through. We provide relief from these disorders through specialized treatment, sophisticated diagnostics, non-surgical therapies and minimally invasive procedures.”
