Virtua once again honored as a #1 Best Place to Work
Virtua, South Jersey's largest healthcare provider, has once again been honored by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a #1 Best Place to Work in the Delaware Valley in the 1,000-plus employee category.
Virtua has received this honor for six consecutive years and has been entered into the Hall of Fame for the last four years. Virtua, as evaluated by its employees, ranked above hundreds of other companies, securing its place on the prestigious list based on the strengths of its benefits and programs. The award highlights Virtua's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of working conditions and company culture.
"Virtua's first priority is to create an environment where employees can thrive and be motivated to deliver an outstanding patient experience," says Ninfa M. Saunders, Virtua President and COO. "We value and appreciate our employees and we understand that it is their compassion and dedication to quality that makes us a world-class organization."
This latest recognition continues to affirm the organization's commitment to its employees. HR Solutions has previously ranked Virtua number one nationally in employee engagement, employee focus on patient care and overall job satisfaction compared to other large US healthcare systems. HR Solutions, an American Hospital Association endorsed partner, is a company that helps organizations assess and improve work environments. Virtua has also previously won top honors from the Philadelphia Business Journal and from NJ Biz for its focus on employee wellness programs.
"Virtua's culture is based on the principles of the Star Initiative which indicate that an Outstanding Patient Experience can only be delivered with the highest clinical quality and safety, customer service, caring culture, resource stewardship and best people," says Richard P. Miller, Virtua CEO. "One of the most important components is our dedication to Best People to ensure that we hire, develop and retain the best people to bring the principle to life."
Hall of Fame winners are companies that have placed at the top of their size category in two or more years, according to the Business Journal. To find the region's top employers, the Philadelphia Business Journal asked readers to nominate their own companies. Employees then rated employers based on trust, job satisfaction, benefits, communication and engagement.
Miller; Saunders; Jim Dwyer, DO, Virtua Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer and Robert Segin, Virtua Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, meet with employees and conduct monthly sessions with a 30-person employee advisory group. In addition to regularly recognizing its employees, Virtua provides a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental and vision coverage and a 401k retirement program with matching funds. Virtua also offers educational opportunities for professional growth, including tuition assistance, and wellness programs, a tobacco-free environment and child care.
