3/12/2010 — Virtua board member Joseph B. Howe has been honored by the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) with the Healthcare System Trustee of the Year Award. Mr. Howe, of Indian Mills, has served as chairman of the West Jersey Health System board (a Virtua predecessor), chairman of the Virtua Hospital Board and is now a member of the Virtua Board of Trustees. He has served as chairman or member of 14 board committees and currently chairs the Facilities Committee.
3/12/2010 — The 2010 Virtua Gala raised more than $550,000 to benefit Virtua’s John M. Tedeschi Pediatric Institute. Held at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ on Saturday, March 6, the Gala raised more money than any other fundraising event in Virtua’s history. The Gala’s record proceeds result from the support of more than 170 sponsors and advertisers and 1,060 guests. Ron Weiss and Corporate Synergies Group served as the presenting sponsor of Virtua’s gala event for the seventh consecutive year.
3/8/2010 — Thirty-six clinicians and support staff, most from Virtua, recently returned from a medical mission to the Philippines where they cared for more than 700 patients over the course of nearly two weeks.
3/1/2010 — Long before healthcare was the top story on the nightly news, one South Jersey doctor was quietly revolutionizing the way family medicine was practiced in the region. Dr. John M. Tedeschi, whose duties have expanded from care of infants, toddlers and teenagers to coordinating medical services to benefit both youngsters and adults, is such a health care leader that an entire institute, Virtua's Pediatric Institute, is named in his honor.
2/26/2010 — Virtua has been re-accredited by the CEO Cancer Gold Standard, recognizing the health system’s commitment to reduce cancer risks for its employees. The CEO Cancer Gold Standard accreditation from the CEO Roundtable on Cancer is reserved for companies that meet or exceed rigorous requirements, and puts Virtua in the company of Johnson & Johnson, The Lance Armstrong Foundation, and Duke Medicine.
