Pain relief for every bone, joint and muscle in your body
The comprehensive continuum of services provided by
Virtua's Musculoskeletal Institute offers pain relief from your neck, shoulders and back to your hips, legs and ankles. This is the region's most complete program with everything from wellness and fitness to advanced minimally invasive surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation. It's an advanced level of care that has been nationally recognized: The Orthopaedic Centers of Excellence at Virtua Memorial and Virtua Marlton were first in the Northeast to earn Joint Commission certification* for total joint replacement care. And Virtua's Spine Program is the region's only program to earn Joint Commission certification for spine care excellence.
Virtua is a leader in minimally invasive surgery and an international teaching site for minimally invasive knee surgery. And each year, Virtua surgeons perform thousands of minimally invasive procedures for the spine, hip, elbow, shoulder and wrist —surgeons who have earned their fellowships at the country's leading institutions including the Mayo Clinic, Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital.
For total knee or hip replacement, Virtua's breadth and depth of experience and expertise is unmatched in the region.
Healing the spine
Virtua's dedicated spine panel of surgeons provides clinical care by both orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons, offering advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques and the latest technologies such as artificial disc replacement. Intensive, non-surgical pain management is also part of its nationally recognized program and includes epidural steroid or nerve-root bloc, trigger point injections, acupuncture, anti-inflammatory medications, analgesics, oral steroids and pulsed radio frequency therapy.
Soothing weekend-warrior aches and carpal tunnel pain
Virtua's sports medicine physicians treat it all: from sports-related to work-related injuries. Fellowship trained sports medicine surgeons perform arthroscopic procedures and specialized procedures for fractures related to osteoporosis, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome. Some procedures, such as anterior cruciate ligament and shoulder repair, can be performed as same day surgery at our affiliated surgery centers, which include Summit Surgical Center, Vantage Surgery Center, Memorial Ambulatory Surgery Center and opening in Spring 2008, Advanced Surgical Institute in Washington Township.
At Virtua's William G. Rohrer Center for HealthFitness, athletes ages 14 and up, can participate in the Center for Athletic Performance, which uses a scientifically based system to train an athlete's mind and body for peak performance.
