Find out if you’re at risk for peripheral arterial disease
Achy legs could be a sign of a serious condition called peripheral arterial disease. You should be screened if you have one or a combination of the following risk factors:
- Over the age of 50
- Smoking
- Diabetes
- Coronary disease
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
The first sign is often leg muscle pain that occurs with walking and goes away with rest, called “claudication.” With early diagnosis and treatment, patients can live well with PAD.
