Voorhees, NJ - Ceremonial shovels and hard-hat wearing executives moved a small amount of dirt during the formal groundbreaking for the new Virtua medical campus in Voorhees. But that is nothing compared to the activity taking place each day as momentum continues at a rapid pace for the new structure.
Virtua unveiled plans late last year for the new campus that will transform healthcare delivery for generations to come. Steady progress has continued with land surveys, demolition and ground preparation. Just recently Voorhees Township officials and Virtua leadership had the opportunity to officially break ground as excitement builds for the new hospital and outpatient center, scheduled for completion by 2011.
"Historically, hospitals were undersized and built to accommodate current technologies, often outdated even before they opened," said Miller. "But the new Voorhees campus has been designed to accommodate expanding technology and serve the community well into the future."
The new campus will include a state-of-the-art digital hospital and a regional outpatient center for easy access to a wide variety of comprehensive services. The facilities will incorporate advanced technologies and quality clinical services, all within a healing environment.
