Virtua again named as a #1 Best Place to Work
Virtua, South Jersey's largest healthcare provider, has once again been honored by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a #1 Best Place to Work in the Delaware Valley. For the second year in a row, Virtua has been inducted into the "Hall of Fame" category, marking the non-profit as the best of the best places to work.
Virtua, as evaluated by its employees, ranked above hundreds of other companies, securing its place on the prestigious list based on the strengths of its benefits and programs. The award highlights Virtua's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of working conditions and company culture.
"Virtua's employees are our most important resource, and this recognition reinforces that belief," said Richard P. Miller, Virtua president and CEO. "Our staff members know that they have an important voice in what we do here at Virtua and how we do it."
Hall of Fame winners are companies that have placed at the top of their size category in two or more years, according to the Business Journal. Virtua has placed first in the large company category four years in a row. To find the region's top employers, the Business Journal asked readers to nominate their own companies. Employees then rated employers based on trust, job satisfaction, benefits, communication and engagement.
Mr. Miller meets employees regularly and has monthly sessions with a 30-person advisory group. In addition to regularly recognizing its employees, Virtua provides a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental and vision coverage and a 401k retirement program with matching funds. Virtua also offers educational opportunities for professional growth, including tuition assistance, and wellness programs, a tobacco-free environment and child care.
As one of New Jersey’s largest health systems, Virtua helps people be well, get well and stay well through a comprehensive range of health care services. Services are delivered through three health and wellness centers, three fitness centers, four acute care hospitals, primary and specialty physician practices with more than 240 physicians, urgent care centers, seven ambulatory surgery centers, home health services, two long-term care and rehabilitation centers, 12 paramedic units and a wide range of outpatient services.
