Virtua entered into Hall of Fame for best places to work
Virtua Health, South Jersey's largest healthcare provider, has once again been honored by the
Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the Best Places to Work in the Delaware Valley. After placing first in the 1,000-plus-employees category three years in a row, Virtua was inducted into a special "Hall of Fame" category this year, marking it as the best of the best places to work.
Virtua Health - as evaluated by its employees - ranked above hundreds of other companies, securing its place on the prestigious list based on the strengths of its benefits and programs. The award also highlights the company's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of working conditions and company culture.
"This recognition reinforces our belief that employees are our most important resource," said
Richard P. Miller, Virtua President and CEO. "The work we do here is hard, and our employees are what make this organization great."
Companies in search of ideas to make their workplaces best in class would do well to look to the approaches that brought these winners to the top year after year, according to the Business Journal. Virtua has proven that its human resources approaches are not single achievements, but a winning set of practices that inspire long-term loyalty.
Miller meets employees regularly on rounds and has monthly sessions with a 30-person advisory group. Employees are recognized at special events, and their photos, along with kudos from patients, are featured on posters throughout Virtua's hospitals and ambulatory sites.
In addition to recognizing its employees, Virtua provides a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental and vision coverage and a 401k retirement program with matching funds. Also, Virtua offers educational opportunities for professional growth, including tuition assistance, and wellness programs and a tobacco-free environment.
