Moisturizers get in your face
By the time you've hit the table of contents in a beauty magazine, you've seen at least seven ads for facial moisturizers. Each product sounds more promising than the last: one stops aging, another regenerates cells, and yet another restores firmness. Before you spend your money on that miracle cream, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist.
"A dermatologist will determine your skin type and help you choose the appropriate product," explains Germaine Camishion, MD, Virtua Health dermatologist. This is especially helpful for people who have "problem" skin or allergic reactions to skin care products.
No matter what your skin type, there's one anti-aging ingredient that EVERYONE should look for in a moisturizer: "Sunscreen — with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15," says Dr. Camishion. "When used on a daily basis, it's the best product for preventing wrinkles and sun damage."
