Virtua Health expands care for moms and babies
Because of Virtua's strong commitment to moms and babies, more than 7,000 women choose to have their babies here each year. They choose Virtua for our expertise in neonatal intensive care and our experience in caring for the sickest and tiniest babies. They also come for the nationally renowned maternal-fetal medicine specialists who help thousands of women with high-risk pregnancies have healthy babies.
Now, South Jersey moms have one more reason to choose Virtua. Virtua Voorhees Hospital has been designated a Regional Perinatal Center by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. This means that we can now transport pregnant women who are at risk for early delivery from hospitals throughout South Jersey to Virtua Voorhees where they and their babies can receive the highest level of of neonatal and perinatal care. Previously, many of these moms were transferred to other hospitals and even out of the state.
"With this designation, we can ensure that pregnant patients receive a full continuum of maternity services and better access to care within Virtua," says Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, vice president and chief operating officer at Virtua Voorhees.
