Is hip resurfacing an option for you?
Not everyone is a candidate for hip resurfacing surgery. You may be a candidate for hip resurfacing if you are:
- Younger than age 65
- Reasonably active
- Not obese
- Free of bone deformities
- Not pregnant and do not plan to get pregnant.*

* Studies have shown that the metal parts of hip resurfacing implants over time, through friction, may release metal ions into the body. Research has found no negative long-term effects of these metal ions to hip resurfacing patients to date; however, the effects of such exposure to a fetus are unknown.
