Virtua’s new Health and Wellness Center in Washington Township: See what’s inside

Imagine this: You arrive for your annual doctor's visit. After dropping off the kids at a supervised child care center, you meet with your doctor who orders lab work. You get your test done, squeeze in a workout and pick up the kids before grabbing a healthy lunch. And, you never had to leave the building.

And, you never had to leave the building.

Located in Washington Township, Gloucester County, Virtua's new Health and Wellness Center opening in fall 2009, will house physician offices, diagnostic imaging, a fitness center, child care, a medspa, and an immediate care center all under one roof.

"Today, health care is as much about keeping you healthy as it is caring for you when you're not," says Andrew Cohen, MD, Virtua family physician who practices in Washington Township. "For so many of us with busy schedules, that care needs to be convenient."

And, with so many services in one place, visitors at the new center won't waste time traveling from one appointment to another. With onsite physician offices, diagnostic testing and an outpatient surgery center, visitors can see their doctors and undergo tests or procedures in one place.

Joann Richichi, DO, Virtua obstetrician/gynecologist practicing in Washington Township, is excited about the center's opening.

"I've always wanted to provide my patients with the ultimate clinical care while caring for women's overall well-being," she explains. "Virtua and I share the same philosophy, and I look forward to practicing at the new site."

That's because Virtua's women's health programs emphasize wellness, prevention, early detection and the most advanced technologies for obstetrics and gynecology, cancer, orthopaedics, heart disease, breast health, arthritis, and cosmetic dermatology. "It's great to have a center like this so close to home," she says.

A regional leader
The new center, located on Hurffville-Crosskeys Road, will include a complete spectrum of health and wellness services from a family friendly fitness center to an advanced outpatient surgery center.

Dr. Cohen explains that every aspect of Virtua's new site was designed with families in mind. "Even if they aren't seeing a physician, families can exercise at the fitness center, relax with a massage at the medspa and enjoy a meal together in the café."

Dr. Richichi notes Virtua's vision of convenient care fits in perfectly with the culture of the community.

"Washington Township is a family focused community," she says. "Because I've practiced here so long and I know the community, I know Virtua will be a perfect fit."
