Cut by a rusty tool? Get to Immediate Care.

Ouch! Your weekend garden clean-up just got cut short as you slice your finger on a rusty tool. As you realize you may need stitches, you think: It’s Sunday so the doctor’s office is closed, and this is not serious enough for the emergency room.

What to do?

Then, an ah-hah moment: Drive over to Virtua Express Immediate Care.

At Virtua Express, a Virtua physician is on site to diagnose and treat adults and children over six months old for everything from cuts, scrapes and rashes to sore throats, ear aches, sinus infections, urinary tract infections to sprains, strains and fractures – and of course, tetanus shots for those rusty tool accidents.

Edwin Williams, MD, Virtua Express medical director, explains: “An emergency room visit with a minor illness can take hours because the sickest individuals need to be treated first. At Virtua Express, if you’re the third patient on the list, you’ll be the third person to see the doctor in most cases.” It’s a quick in and out visit.

Naturally, there are times when an emergency department is the only place to go. So, if you experience chest pain, belly pain, shortness of breath or you’ve been involved in an accident, immediately call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

“When you’re sick, always call your family doctor first,” says Dr. Williams. “But if an appointment is not available, or it’s after hours, Virtua Express is the next best option for fast, affordable care for minor problems that require immediate treatment.” It’s just what the doctor ordered.
