Capturing beauty inside and out
“By the time I had hit my mid-forties, I was really unhappy with my body,” says Carla, wife and mother of three. “I still had a flat stomach and a nice waistline – but my breasts were another story. I’d try on certain dresses and think: You can’t wear that anymore. It made me sad.”
Carla was experiencing a common problem. Over time, breast tissue naturally loses its elasticity. Child-bearing also damages delicate breast tissue. The skin stretches because of pregnancy weight gain and does not snap back into place.
Carla decided to do something about the way she looked and felt. She and her husband consulted with several plastic surgeons but were not satisfied. Then she met Lyle M. Back, MD, a board-certified Virtua plastic surgeon. Carla says: “From the beginning, we clicked.”
Dr. Back explains his philosophy: “The first thing I do when I meet a woman considering breast enhancement is to understand her unique needs. Perhaps she wants to reclaim the body she had before having children, or desires a new look — one she had only dreamed of.”
Carla was clear that she wanted her result to look very natural. So, she and Dr. Back decided that the best way to achieve this was to combine a breast lift with breast implants.
“Dr. Back spent a lot of time with my husband and me over several visits,” says Carla. He explained the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure.”
“I love my result,” Carla beams. I have a fuller, more beautiful shape than I did, and I am really proud of it.”
Dr. Back: “Women often ask if they are too old for a breast enhancement procedure. And I ask back: What is too old when it comes to improving the quality of your life?”
