SCHOOL OF PARAMEDIC SCIENCE

Virtua and Camden County College (CCC) are partners in offering the educational requirements to become a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT-B) or a nationally registered paramedic (NREMT-P). CCC is a comprehensive community college dedicated to offering academically excellent and affordable public education.

Paramedic Curriculum
Two curriculum options
Each track contains the required professional courses to prepare the application for both the New Jersey State and National Registry Certifications as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic.

Professional Certification
The professional courses are divided into eight semesters (three classroom; five clinical) and awards the student 42 credits and a certificate of completion. Instruction takes place in the classroom, hospital and in the field internship with preceptors on the Mobile Intensive Care Units.

Associate's Degree
The Health Sciences curriculum is the opportunity to acquire an Associate's Degree by supplementing your professional paramedic education with an additional 26 credits (for a total of 68) of specified general education courses.

Either choice exceeds the requirements of the National Standard Curriculum for Paramedic studies. The three didactic classroom semesters are provided on the Blackwood campus of CCC. The three in-hospital clinical semesters are provided at Virtua Berlin, Marlton, Voorhees, Virtua Memorial and Underwood Memorial Hospital. The two field internship and field residency semesters are served on MICU vehicles throughout Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties.

EMT-Basic classes are also offered which earn the student five college credits. This certification is a nationally mandated prerequisite for those wishing to advance to the paramedic level curriculum.
