COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

NHF-120 - Foundations in the Nursing Management of Human Responses
This course offers a foundation in professional nursing. Critical thinking provides a framework to utilize the nursing process. The nursing management of human responses in the basic care of diverse individuals through the health continuum is implemented. Fundamental concepts, theories and principles provide an understanding of this continuum across the lifespan. The students will have the opportunity to demonstrate role behaviors using cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills in a variety of clinical settings.

NHF-121 - Health Assessment Across the Lifespan
This course offers the opportunity to perform health assessment and recognize basic alterations in human systems across the lifespan. Using a critical thinking approach, the student will recognize basic alterations in human systems across the lifespan. Learning activities will provide a systematic method of collecting and interpreting data.

NHF-130 - Management of Human Responses for Selected Health Concerns
This course focuses on the nursing management of human responses to selected health concerns in diverse individuals and families. The student will have the opportunity to provide care in the perinatal, perioperative, medical/surgical and community settings.

NHF-131 - Introduction to Nursing Informatics
This introductory course explores the present and potential impact of health care informatics on the discipline of nursing, the health care delivery system, and the patient. The student is provided the opportunity to develop the knowledge base and skills necessary to effectively utilize information technology in a variety of areas of nursing practice.

NHF-220 - Management of Human Responses for Multiple Health Concerns
This course focuses on the nursing management of human responses for diverse individuals and families with multiple health concerns. Nursing care of patients with alterations in cardiovascular, neurological, endocrine, hematological, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and mental health functioning will be addressed. The student will have an opportunity to provide care in adult and pediatric medical/surgical, behavioral health, and community settings.

NHF-230 - Management of Human Responses for Multiple and/or Complex Health Concerns
This course focuses on the nursing management of human responses for diverse individuals, families and groups with multiple and/or complex health concerns. Nursing care of patients with multi-system health deviations will be addressed. The principles of leadership and management are applied to the care of groups of patients. The student will have an opportunity to provide care in medical/ surgical, critical care, and community settings.

NHF-231 - Issues & Trends in Professional Nursing
This course focuses on the impact of current influences on nursing practice. Political, socioeconomic and environmental issues are discussed. Transition into professional practice is examined.
