Wound Healing

When you have a persistent wound caused by diabetes or an infection, Virtua Wound Care can help you heal and feel whole again.

If you have diabetes or circulation problems, even minor cuts can turn into major problems. Our experts use advanced techniques to treat your wounds when they won’t heal on their own.

Our Approach to Wound Care

Most wounds, such as lacerations or skin sores, cuts, scrapes, and minor burns, heal within a few weeks. But complications sometimes arise, especially if you have diabetes, poor circulation, decreased immunity, or a lack of sensation in your feet.

Since non-healing wounds rarely result from a single cause, we treat you, not just your wound. From your first contact with one of our three wound healing centers, you’ll gain a sense of hope that recovery is on the way.

During your first appointment, our experienced wound specialists assess your symptoms, determine the underlying cause of your wound, and customize the most effective treatment plan to stimulate healing.

Your individualized plan of care might include cleaning and dressing your wound and referring you for imaging, blood work, and vascular testing, if needed. You’ll also receive comprehensive education on caring for your wound at home and improving your overall health.

Our plans are designed to complement the care your primary physician provides. This ensures that your health care team is always working together to provide the treatment that’s right for you.

colorbar quote

I finally felt heard, seen, and cared about. They listened to me, and I didn’t feel rushed or dismissed…I cried sitting in my Jeep when I left the office. Not out of pain, but out of happiness and relief that I am finally on the right path to healing and putting this injury behind me. Thank you!
