Urgent Care Telemedicine Visits From The Comfort Of Home

Virtual urgent care visits provide quick care for minor medical issues, and can be accessed from anywhere.

Years ago, if you were sick and couldn’t get in to see your primary care physician, or it was after business hours, you’d head to the hospital emergency room. That could take hours, and might be terribly expensive.

Urgent care centers filled the gap, providing more immediate, less expensive care for minor illnesses and injuries. No appointment is needed, and centers are geared to your schedule, open evenings and weekends.

The coronavirus pandemic has transformed the way we provide care. Medical facilities have enhanced safety protocols in place to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Still, we understand that some people are hesitant to seek in-person care, or simply desire greater convenience and flexibility.

To better serve your needs, we at Virtua offer virtual urgent care visits. You’ll get the same high quality care from the comfort of your living room couch, or from the sideline of your kid’s soccer game.

Over a secure video call on your smartphone, tablet, or computer, our experienced clinicians can diagnose and provide advice or treatment for conditions such as:

  • Seasonal allergies: itchy eyes, sneezing, and/or runny nose
  • Colds symptoms: nasal congestion, sore throat, cough, runny nose, sneezing, and/or fever
  • Earaches: ear pain, itching, and/or discomfort (without change in hearing, bleeding, or drainage from the ears)
  • Eye problems: itching, tearing, redness, and/or irritation (without vision changes, foreign body, trauma, or bleeding)
  • Flu-like symptoms: fever, body aches, and/or fatigue
  • Minor musculoskeletal injuries: sprains, strains, contusions, and/or spasms (without obvious deformity or fracture)
  • Sinus infections: nasal congestion, headache, and/or sinus pain
  • Skin conditions: minor rashes, superficial cuts, scrapes, bruises, insect bites, and/or minor burns
  • Upset stomach: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and/or constipation (without bleeding or severe abdominal pain)
  • Headaches: new or chronic head pain and/or discomfort (without head injury, vomiting, dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, or change in mental status/vision/hearing)
  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTI): Burning or increased frequency of urination (without fever, vomiting, or blood in the urine)
  • COVID-19 consults
If you need medication, we will send a prescription electronically to your preferred pharmacy. And this is not just for new medicines. For example, if you’re experiencing familiar allergy symptoms and just need a medication refill, we can send that over to the pharmacy, too. At the end of your visit, you’ll receive an electronic summary of your call and instructions for next steps.

If during your telehealth visit our clinician recommends you continue in person—such as for an X-ray, stitches, EKG, or hands-on physical examination—you’ll be directed to one of our eight Virtua Urgent Care locations. Arrangements will be made for you to be seen as soon as possible, and your telemedicine clinician will review their findings with the in-person clinician for a seamless transition of care. If you are evaluated the same day, you will not be charged a second co-pay.

Our virtual urgent care team sees patients 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays. Learn more or start a Virtua Urgent Care Telehealth visit here.
