Virtua Memorial Pediatric Pavilion slated to open in April
Virtua Memorial broke ground on a new Pediatric Pavilion in June 2012, and right on schedule, the Pavilion will open in April 2013.
This $9.5 million expansion of the hospital employs an innovative model of care that centralizes inpatient and outpatient emergency services in the same location for children under 18. At the foreground of pediatric care, Virtua is one of only a handful of hospitals to embrace this new model.
Virtua designed the Pavilion with eight emergency treatment beds; three minor injury chairs; five inpatient beds; a Ronald McDonald playroom; a respite area for patients and siblings and a media center for patients and their families.
When parents bring their children to the Pavilion, they can expect:
- Care for children provided in collaboration with families
- The latest technology to help their little one heal and return home quickly
- 24/7 access to pediatric emergency care
- Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) pediatricians and Virtua pediatric nurses, all certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support
The new unit will enable Virtua Memorial – the only pediatric provider in Burlington County – to meet the ever-evolving needs of the community.
