Virtua President/CEO speaks at televised GE announcement
Virtua President and CEO Richard Miller
was invited to participate in a press event and panel discussion with GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt
during the announcement of Healthymagination, GE's new approach to healthcare.
The initiative promises to allocate $6 billion over the next six years to develop products GE says will lower costs, increase access and improve the quality of health care around the world. GE will also increase lending to hospitals to improve information technology, especially in rural areas. There could be as many as 100 "Healthymagination" products within the next seven years and comes on the heels of the company's "Ecomagination" effort around environmentally friendly products.
The announcement and panel discussion took place at the Newseum in Washington, DC, and appeared as live streaming-video - worldwide - on MSNBC. Among the media in attendance were the New York Times, the Associated Press, Business Journal, Wall Street Journal and many others.
Mr. Miller spoke about how he and the Virtua team use Six Sigma and Lean management tools in the daily operations of the Virtua system. He also discussed how Virtua partnered with GE, as well as the first time he reached out to Mr. Immelt to discuss how Six Sigma and Lean could be used in healthcare.
