Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE

Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE

President and chief executive officer

Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE, is president and CEO of Virtua Health, a not-for-profit integrated health system in New Jersey, offering a full continuum of preventative, primary, ambulatory, acute and tertiary care across more than 300 locations.

A recognized thought leader and advocate for health equity, Mr. Pullin has led significant transformation of the 142-year-old not-for-profit organization, notably through the acquisition of Lourdes Health System in 2019 and the forging of an academic affiliation with Rowan University in 2021 resulting in the Virtua Health College of Medicine and Life Sciences.

In 2022, Modern Healthcare recognized Mr. Pullin as one of the nation’s Top 25 Diversity Leaders in Healthcare for his commitment to health equity and social change. Prior to that, Modern Healthcare named Mr. Pullin among the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare in 2018 and 2020. In 2019, Philadelphia Business Journal (PBJ) honored Mr. Pullin with the Most Admired CEO award. PBJ also named him to the Power 100 list of most influential people in the region for the past four years. He was chosen as one of South Jersey Biz’s 50 Most Influential Leaders for five consecutive years (2018-2022). In 2018, Mr. Pullin received the Distinguished Healthcare Leadership Award from the National Association of Health Services Executives. In 2022, Catholic Charities presented Mr. Pullin with the Saint Basil the Great Award, and Junior Achievement of New Jersey inducted Mr. Pullin into its New Jersey Business Hall of Fame.

Mr. Pullin came to Virtua in 2017 from the Washington, D.C./Baltimore, MD area where he had been president of MedStar Harbor Hospital and senior vice president of MedStar Health. Prior to leading MedStar Harbor, he was senior vice president and chief operating officer at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Pullin’s extensive background includes many executive leadership positions in hospitals, academic medical centers, physician group practices, and private industry. He was vice president of Operations and Business Development at St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System in Houston and vice president of Acquisitions and Development at Symbion Healthcare, Inc.

A Fellow and past Regent of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Mr. Pullin serves on the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees and is a past member of the New Jersey Hospital Association Board of Trustees. He is a past chair of the American Hospital Association’s Governance Council for Metropolitan Hospitals and a past member of the Maryland Hospital Association’s Council on Legislative and Regulatory Policy. He is a current member of the Economic and Community Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and serves on the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Regional Board of Directors. His prior board service with numerous non-profit community and civic organizations includes Healthcare for the Homeless, Houston Regional HIV/AIDS Resource Group, American Heart Association, DePelchin Children’s Center, and the College of Health Professions at Towson University, among others.

In 2021, Mr. Pullin was elected to the Board of Directors of Hillenbrand, Inc., (NYSE: HI).

Mr. Pullin serves as host for the Here for Good podcast, where he engages in meaningful conversations with transformational leaders about how they create a positive impact on the world around them. He is also the author of several impactful op-ed articles on topics ranging from rising violence against health care professionals to the life-saving gift of organ donation.

Mr. Pullin has served as an adjunct professor at Texas Lutheran University and Towson University and has presented and published a wide variety of papers and articles. A past Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, he is a Hall of Fame Inductee of the Edgewood Independent School District, San Antonio, Texas.

John M. Matsinger, DO, MBA

Executive VP and chief operating officer

John Matsinger, DO, MBA, oversees Virtua’s hospitals, satellite emergency rooms, home care agency, and Virtua Medical Group.

Dr. Matsinger previously served as executive vice president and system chief clinical officer. His responsibilities included providing strategic direction, leadership and accountability for all physician services as well as for setting the standards for the highest level of quality and safety throughout Virtua — consistent with its mission and vision. He also served as a liaison between the medical staff, administration and Board of Trustees.

Dr. Matsinger joined Virtua in 2008 as Medical Director of Medical Affairs. In this position he was responsible for ensuring medical staff compliance with regulatory agencies, the Virtua Bylaws, and policies and procedures. In addition, he oversaw Virtua’s Continuing and Graduate Medical Education programs and ensured their compliance with accrediting standards.

In 2011, Dr. Matsinger became Medical Director of Operation at Virtua Voorhees and directly interacted with the physicians in regards to quality initiatives and patient satisfaction. During his time at Voorhees he was involved in a successful implementation of an electronic medical record and the opening of a new world-class hospital campus that enhanced the medical services offered to the residents of Southern New Jersey.

In 2012, Dr. Matsinger’s role expanded within Virtua to include Medical Director oversight for the Virtua Medical Group. As Vice President of Medical Service, Dr. Matsinger was responsible for coordinating the care of over 250 providers in the medical group and oversaw the implementation of policies and procedures for the group. His role focused on creating synergy in this large multidisciplinary group and he was involved in the group’s care redesign.

In 2000, Dr. Matsinger graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he also completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. In 2007, Dr. Matsinger received an executive master of business administration from the LeBow School of Business at Drexel's University in Philadelphia. He is also a member of Beta Sigma Gamma, the international business honors society and is a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Dr. Matsinger also successfully completed The Academy GE Fellows Program for Physician Executives which develops future physician leaders across the healthcare industry.

Robert Segin, CPA

Robert M. Segin, CPA, was promoted to executive vice president for Virtua in September 2010 and promoted to chief financial officer in November 1998. Segin is responsible for the health system’s overall strategic financial planning and treasury management.

Segin currently serves as chief financial officer of Virtua. Segin’s other responsibilities include mergers and acquisitions, physician joint ventures and other business partnerships, planning and development, managed care, support services, construction management, supply chain, internal audit, and corporate compliance.

Prior to his promotion to chief financial cfficer at Virtua, Segin served for 5 years as chief financial officer for West Jersey Health System. He also served as a supervisor at the CPA firm of Pannell Kerr Forster.

Segin received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania in 1979.

Segin is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the New Jersey Hospital Association.

Segin serves on various boards including Chairman of the Board of Health Business Solutions, Trustee of the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) and as a Board Member for Jersey Shore Ambulatory Surgery Center. Segin is Chairman of the Board of Acentus Practice Management as well as Chairman and President of Virtua Assurance Inc. Committee Memberships include Chairman of the NJHA Finance Committee and a member of the NJHA Finance and Executive Compensation Committees.

The Philadelphia Business Journal, NJ-Biz, and South Jersey Business magazine have all named Segin as Top CEO.

Reginald Blaber, MD, MBA, FACC

Executive VP and chief clinical officer

Reginald Blaber is Virtua's Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer. His responsibilities include providing strategic direction, leadership and accountability for all physician services, and for setting the standards for the highest level of quality and safety throughout Virtua—consistent with our mission and vision. He also serves as liaison between the medical staff, administration and board of trustees. 

Prior to joining Virtua’s executive team, Dr. Blaber was President of Lourdes Health System. He created the Lourdes Cardiovascular Institute where he led more than 80 employed and affiliated cardiologists, growing the service to become the largest heart program in southern New Jersey. In addition, he created a culture of quality and innovation—resulting in multiple awards for excellence. These include national quality recognition for cardiovascular care and cardiac surgery by leading, independent ratings organizations such as Healthgrades, Becker’s and Truven Health Analytics.

Dr. Blaber is a practicing cardiologist who has been affiliated with Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden (formerly Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center) for more than 20 years. There he participated in numerous clinical and administrative committees, including a term as Medical Staff President. In 2010, he was named President of Lourdes Medical Associates and, in 2011, President of Lourdes Cardiology Services.

In 2016, he was appointed to the New Jersey Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel. The same year, the Diocese of Camden honored him with the Saint Luke Award for Leadership in Catholic Health Care in southern New Jersey. He has served on the boards of The Joseph Fund, the Haddonfield Ambulance Association, the Interfaith Care Givers of Haddonfield, and the Bucknell University Alumni Association.

Dr. Blaber came to South Jersey by way of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Fort Benning, and Fort Meade. He served six years in the U.S. Army as an internist and achieved the rank of major. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, where he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease. He graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and earned a Master of Business Administration from Villanova University.

Sarah Fawcett-Lee, FAHP, CRFE

Senior VP and chief philanthropy officer

Sarah Fawcett-Lee, FAHP, CFRE, is the senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer for Virtua. In this role, she implements philanthropy initiatives across the health system to increase charitable support for Virtua’s array of programs and services. Sarah has spent her entire career in philanthropy, including more than 20 years in the health care industry.

Before joining Virtua, she served for six years as a regional vice president at MedStar Health in Maryland. Previously, she was vice president for philanthropy at Mercy Health Services and director of major gifts for the Sheppard Pratt Health System—both in Baltimore.

A certified fundraising executive and a Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Fawcett-Lee earned a master’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Hull, United Kingdom. She is a past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Maryland Chapter, and has been a faculty member and assistant dean of the Madison Institute, an annual certificate program offered by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, since 2014.

Stephanie Fendrick, FACHE, MBA

Executive VP and chief strategy officer

Stephanie Fendrick, FACHE, MBA, is executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Virtua Health. She leads the formulation, development, and advancement of Virtua Health’s growth and transformation strategy across multiple service lines and for the entire health system. She also explores, develops, and manages relationships with other providers and organizations that support Virtua’s strategic imperatives.

Fendrick’s expansive health care experience makes her uniquely qualified to oversee Virtua’s enterprise-wide growth initiatives, service-line strategy, and key partnerships – including clinical collaborations with Penn Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Fendrick also oversees Virtua’s digital transformation and community-based programs, which encompasses the award-winning “Eat Well” food-access initiative.

Fendrick and her team position Virtua’s portfolio of care offerings for maximum impact, including consumer loyalty, market growth, access to care, and quality outcomes. Her focus areas include behavioral health, cardiovascular health, neurosciences, oncology, organ transplantation, orthopedics, surgery, and women’s and children’s health. Virtua is a leader in maternity, welcoming approximately 9,000 babies annually. Also, under Fendrick’s leadership, Virtua’s organ transplantation division has doubled its yearly volume – providing 100-plus people with restored health.

Fendrick is coach certified for Six Sigma and green belt trained. She also completed the Health Management Academy GE Fellowship program for senior executives and is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.

She is on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Southern New Jersey, a not-for-profit organization that provides quality, affordable, and accessible social services. Previously, Fendrick served on the board for Samaritan Life-Enhancing Care and the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” Executive Leadership Committee, including a term as chair for the annual fundraising luncheon.

Before joining Virtua, Fendrick worked at ChristianaCare, starting her career as an administrative resident, then working in quality and operations. Fendrick earned her Bachelor of Arts at Franklin and Marshall College and her MBA with a concentration in health services from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business.

A South Jersey native, Fendrick lives in Voorhees with her husband, Jeffrey. The pair have three adult children, all of whom live in the region.

Rhonda Jordan, SHRM-SCP

Rhonda Jordan is executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Virtua Health. In this role, Jordan serves as Virtua’s strategic and operational leader, setting Virtua’s vision for utilizing the organization’s people resources to achieve its mission of Be Well, Get Well, and Stay Well. Jordan is responsible for the development and execution of the people strategy, in all aspects of Talent Management, Organizational Culture, Change and Development, Talent Acquisition, and Compensation and Benefits.

Jordan brings over 30 years of human resources experience to the position. For almost 24 years, she has held progressively responsible positions at Virtua, including senior vice president, vice president, assistant vice president, and director of human resources, where she provided strategic human resource partnership and oversight. Jordan has implemented talent management solutions and systems in the areas of employee and labor relations, organizational effectiveness, performance management, and leadership assessment.

Certified as a senior HR professional through the Society for Human Resource Management, she has been instrumental in the identification of high performers and high potential leaders, and in executive and developmental coaching. In 2019, following the coming together of Virtua Health and Lourdes Health System, Jordan led the introduction of an exciting and renewed culture — the Culture of WE — and the launch of a more in-depth and comprehensive inclusion, diversity and equity initiative.

Prior to joining Virtua, Jordan held human resources management and leadership positions in other health care and retail industries, including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

One of South Jersey Biz magazine’s “2017 Women to Watch,” Jordan earned her undergraduate degree from Lamar University and received an MS in performance improvement and training from Capella University. Jordan is Six Sigma green belt trained and star coach certified. She is a master coach and is certified through the Success Unlimited Network. Jordan actively volunteers in her community, including serving as Board Member on the Junior Achievement State Board and a Board Member for Center for Ambulatory and Minimally Invasive Surgery. She is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., serving on various committees.

Lauren Rowinski, JD

Lauren Rowinski is senior vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary for Virtua and provides leadership to Virtua’s Legal, Risk Management and Privacy Teams under the Office of the General Counsel.

Prior to joining Virtua in October 2016, Rowinski worked for MedStar Health, Inc., a large Mid-Atlantic healthcare system headquartered in Columbia, Maryland. During her career with MedStar, Rowinski held progressively responsible positions, last serving for several years as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. She was the strategic legal partner to MedStar’s Digital Health Officer, Performance Improvement Office, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Service Line, Patient Quality & Safety, Real Estate, Marketing, Facilities & Materials Management, Human Resources, and a variety of operational leadership teams and special projects. Some of her accomplishments at MedStar included serving as lead counsel with operational negotiations teams for major commercial, IT, real estate, supply chain and other transactions; assisting in the expansion of the system’s orthopedics and sports medicine service line; successfully managing a multi-million dollar centralized outside counsel budget; developing a process for trademark/brand expansion and protection; and overseeing the system’s commercial and employment litigation matters and related discovery processes.

Prior to entering the healthcare industry, Rowinski was Regional Attorney for AT&T Corporation providing legal services in a multi-state area. She began her legal career with the law firms of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Reid & Priest in Washington, D.C.

Rowinski enjoys public speaking and has been a guest lecturer at Georgetown University in the Masters in Healthcare Administration Graduate Program and a speaker at a number of events, including for the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the D.C Women’s Bar Association, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and the American Conference Institute.

Rowinski received her Juris Doctor from Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America and her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY @ StonyBrook University.

Chrisie Scott, MBA

Chrisie Scott is the senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Virtua Health where she specializes in connecting data-driven insights to compelling “heartwired” strategies. At Virtua, she is responsible for strategic marketing, communications, and public relations, as well as oversight for a centralized access center.

Prior to joining Virtua’s executive team, Scott served as the chief marketing officer for Hackensack Meridian Health, where she led the development and launch of the inaugural brand strategy. She spent the majority of her career at Meridian Health, where she created one of the first truly integrated and consumer-focused health network brands in the state as the vice president of marketing, communications, outreach, and planning. She is respected in the industry for her break-out, first-to-market initiatives, including creating an expectant and experienced online mom community (Momtourage); growing engagement and reputation for the children’s hospital through a team of characters and a 10,000 member loyalty program (Pawsitive Action Club); creating the first online health care consumer insight panel in New Jersey (Sounding Board); and developing a unique digital partnership with key radio stations so that consumers could earn points for interacting with health content and adopting healthy behaviors (Tuned in to Health).

Scott is currently the board president of JDRF New Jersey Metro and Rockland County Chapter, where she is an advocate and volunteer for accelerating a world without type-1 diabetes. She is a member of the Healthcare Executive Forum, a peer-voted, executive-level group that fosters accelerated learning, sharing, and professional development in marketing and strategy. She holds an MBA in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Rowan University.

Tom Buckley

Senior Vice President Revenue Cycle & Managed Care

Beginning his career with Virtua Mt. Holly Hospital over 33 years ago, Buckley will now add managed care to his executive oversight, which already includes patient accounting, patient access and revenue integrity functions, allowing him to create an integrated revenue cycle department for Virtua. Buckley has been instrumental in leading Virtua through a successful Epic Hospital & Physician Revenue Cycle conversion (twice), integrating the Virtua and Lourdes business office and establishing Virtua as an Epic Top 10 Revenue Cycle Performer. Buckley has his MBA from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and also completed the Health Management Academy GE Fellowship program for senior executives. He serves on various boards and committees including the Camden Coalition Finance Board and Acentus, Virtua’s joint venture professional billing company.

Michael Capriotti, MBA

Senior VP, integration and strategic operations

Michael W. Capriotti, MBA, is senior vice president of integration and strategic operations for Virtua Health. In this role, Capriotti provides strategic oversight for several of Virtua’s care transformation initiatives, including projects and programs aimed at improving patient access, affordability, and experience.

Prior to this position, Capriotti was Virtua’s vice president of integrated care management. He played an integral role in designing and implementing the integration of business operations during Virtua Health’s acquisition of Lourdes Health System. Capriotti was also instrumental in developing Virtua’s Access Center and Personal Health Navigation Service.

Capriotti began his career at Virtua in the marketing department. As the director of marketing communications, he received several national awards for marketing plans and creative concepts. Capriotti earned his bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from Rowan University and his MBA from the St. Joseph’s University Erivan K. Haub School of Business. He has also completed the Health Management Academy GE Fellowship program for senior executives.

Lisa Ferraro

Lisa Ferraro is a senior vice president and president of Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Prior to transitioning into this role, Ferraro served as an SVP and the chief quality, safety and risk officer. Lisa has been with Virtua for 25 years with roles that focused on integrated operations, patient care, staffing, and case management. 

Ferraro has more than 30 years of health care experience in non-profit organizations and started as a medical-surgical registered nurse after graduating from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Ferraro went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Widener University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. In addition, she has a Green Belt Certification in Six Sigma and a graduate of The Academy of GE Fellows Program for Administrative Executives.

Ferraro is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Nurses’ Association, and is certified as a Nurse-Executive-Advanced from ANCC. She also serves as a Burlington County Coach for the New Jersey Action Coalition.

Thomas F. Gordon, MBA

Senior VP and chief information officer

Thomas Gordon is senior vice president and chief information officer for Virtua, one of New Jersey’s largest health systems. In his role, Gordon oversees technology initiatives and strategy for all of Virtua’s operations, which includes more than 350 care locations. He is also responsible for IT in Virtua’s primary and specialty physician practices with hundreds of practitioners, home health services, and a wide range of outpatient services. He manages a highly integrated infrastructure consisting of more than 300 applications, a robust network, telecommunications and production and disaster recovery data centers.

Gordon has more than 25 years of information technology experience in health care and banking, and extensive leadership in health care. He has been affiliated with Virtua since 1997, where he has managed web platform technologies, application development, and integration, database and business intelligence teams. Gordon has had a critical role in preparing Virtua’s technology to adapt to the Affordable Care Act’s Meaningful Use, including strategies for Health Information Exchange and personal health record.

Gordon began his career in banking IT, where he rose to lead application development for the First Union National Bank, now Wachovia. Today, many of his programs are still in use. Gordon is a member of the national Healthcare Information Management Systems Society as well as the NJ society chapter.

Gordon received a BS in Management and Information Systems from LaSalle University and an MBA from St. Joseph’s University – Erivan K. Haub School of Business.

Barry Graf

Barry Graf, FACHE, MBA

Senior VP, partnerships and business development

Barry Graf serves as senior vice president of partnerships and business development. In this role he is responsible for developing and maintaining partnership relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers. This includes oversight of various diagnostic and therapy partnerships as well as a statewide network of ambulatory surgery centers.

Prior to this role he served as vice president of integrated operations for Virtua. He was responsible for ensuring horizontal integration standardizing best practices, driving efficiencies and growing the clinical business across Virtua. He provided executive oversight for surgical services, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and hospitality services. He is also responsible for identifying practice and process variations in other areas throughout the organization.

Previously, Graf served as vice president of operations for the Virtua Voorhees campus, where he led the transition planning for the new Voorhees facilities. Earlier, Graf had served as administrative director of radiology. Prior to joining Virtua, Graf held management positions at Lower Bucks Hospital, Rancocas Hospital, Garden State Hospital and Tri County Hospital.

Graf earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Widener University and a master’s degree in health administration from Eastern University. He is also a graduate of Crozer Chester Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology. Graf is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is also a Big Brother mentor.

Clare Hall, MBA

Senior Vice President of Human Resources Operations

Bringing over 25 years of health care experience to this position, Hall provides strategic oversight for several of Virtua’s human resources functions, including compensation, benefits, employee health and safety and HR analytics. For the last ten years, she has held progressively responsible positions at Virtua, including vice president and assistant vice president of human resources, where she provided strategy and oversight. Hall’s background in hospital finance brings a unique set of skills to Virtua’s human resource department. She played an integral role in designing and implementing the integrated human resource function during Virtua Health’s acquisition of Lourdes Health System. Prior to joining Virtua, Hall held human resources and finance management positions at other health care institutions. Hall earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Holy Family University and her MBA from the Eastern University. She sits on the board of directors of the NJHA Unemployment Compensation Committee Fund and Mount Laurel Endoscopy Center. She also serves as secretary on the board of the healthcare employees federal credit union.

Catherine Hughes, MSN, MHA, RN, NEA-BC

Catherine Hughes has held a variety of nursing and senior leadership roles in health care. Most recently, she served as system vice president for nursing integration and outcomes, and administrator of behavioral health services. She first joined Virtua in 2002 as vice president for patient care services for Virtua Berlin and Virtua Camden. Previously, she held various leadership roles in the Kennedy Health System in Cherry Hill, NJ, Hampton Behavioral Health Hospital in Westampton, NJ, and St. Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

Hughes is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders, the New Jersey Organization of Nurse Leaders, an elected member of the board of directors of the NJ Organization of Nurse Leaders, and chair of the ONL Mentorship Committee. She belongs to the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society; is a graduate of the Johnson and Johnson Wharton Fellows Program on Management for Nurse Executives in 2005; and is board certified as an advanced Nurse Executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In the community, Hughes is a member of the advisory board for the Allied Health Program at Gloucester County Institute of Technology.

Hughes earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University in Chester, Pa.; her Master of Health Administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa.; and her Master of Science in Nursing from Thomas Edison University in New Jersey.

Beth Juliano

Senior VP, Clinical Information and Identity Services

Beth Juliano, MHA, RHIA, is senior vice president of clinical information and identity services for Virtua Health. In this role, Juliano provides strategic oversight for several of Virtua’s functions, including health information management, identity, clinical documentation improvement, clinical reimbursement quality, clinical record integrity, and professional fee coding. Her work connects clinical, operational, and financial areas, and she has a particular interest in ensuring patient safety through appropriate clinical information.

Prior to this role, Juliano was vice president of health information management and clinical documentation. She first joined Virtua in 2005 as the director of health information management at Virtua Voorhees Hospital. She has 25 years of healthcare leadership experience in a variety of roles.

Juliano earned her bachelor’s degree in health information management from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Seton Hall University. She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association, as well as the New Jersey chapter. She also serves on the advisory boards for the health information and technology degree programs for multiple local colleges.

Tarun Kapoor, MD, MBA

Tarun Kapoor, MD, MBA

Senior VP and chief digital transformation officer

Tarun Kapoor, MD, MBA, is senior vice president and chief digital transformation officer at Virtua Health. In this role, he oversees Virtua’s Digital Transformation Office and orchestrates Virtua’s enterprise-wide master plan in support of an intuitive care journey for all consumers.

Previously, Dr. Kapoor was the president of VirtuaPhysicianPartners™ and the senior vice president and chief medical officer for Virtua Medical Group (VMG), a clinician multi-specialty medical practice. Dr. Kapoor joined VMG as a hospitalist in 2008, where he was the associate director of the Virtua Hospitalist Group, helping grow the practice from 12 physicians to its current size of more than 110 clinicians.

In addition, he joined Virtua’s Medical Informatics team in 2010, helping to develop and implement its inpatient electronic medical record, including full deployment of CPOE and electronic Medication Reconciliation.

Prior to joining Virtua, Dr. Kapoor was regional director for EmCare’s Mid-Atlantic Hospitalist Division. During his tenure with EmCare, Dr. Kapoor developed 16 inpatient care programs for Clinical Staffing Solutions, which was subsequently acquired by EmCare.

Dr. Kapoor trained in internal medicine at The George Washington University Hospital, where he stayed on an extra year to serve as chief resident and clinical instructor. He obtained his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson, his undergraduate degree in government and chemistry from Cornell University, and his executive master of business administration from the Fox School of Business of Temple University.

Jennifer Khelil, DO, MBA

Jennifer Khelil, DO, MBA, is senior vice president and chief medical officer at Virtua. In this position, Dr. Khelil collaborates with the leadership team to provide clinical oversight to all system practices while focusing on high reliability, quality and safety, and patient outcomes. She also provides leadership for Physician Services and Medical Affairs.

Since joining Virtua in 2013, Dr. Khelil has held several positions. Her most recent role was vice president of medical affairs, where she oversaw compliance with accrediting agencies’ standards, medical staff bylaws development and adherence, peer review performance monitoring, and medical staff privileging.

Dr. Khelil holds a Master of Business Administration from Quinnipiac University and a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a graduate of the Virtua Physician Leadership Program and the Health Management Academy Physician Leadership Program.

John Kirby is a senior vice president for Virtua Health and president of Virtua Memorial and Virtua Willingboro hospitals. In his role, Kirby oversees two regional medical centers, including the only full-service hospital with maternity care in Burlington County.

Kirby is an accomplished health care leader who started his career as an occupational therapist after graduating from Temple University. His professional career includes 26 years of progressive experience as clinician, director, vice president, chief operating officer and chief executive officer in the non-profit, for-profit and academic medicine sectors of healthcare. Kirby is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Occupational Therapy Association and serves on the Board of Temple University College of Public Health.

Gerry Lowe, MBA

Senior VP, finance

Gerry Lowe is the senior vice president of finance at Virtua. He is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, reimbursement, strategic financial planning, treasury management, decision support and finance support functions for the organization. Lowe has been involved in the oversight and development of various strategic business ventures, including the creation of a management services organization, establishment of an accountable care organization, and the conversion to a self-insured/managed health approach for employees.

Prior to his current position, Lowe was assistant vice president of finance for Virtua. He also served as assistant vice president of finance for West Jersey Health System, as well as other finance positions, including assistant controller and director of budgets and reimbursement.

Lowe earned both his Bachelor of Science in business administration and his MBA at Drexel University. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and serves on New Jersey Hospital Association committees. Lowe completed the Health Management Academy GE Fellows Program. He is an active volunteer at St. Isaac Jogues Church where he participates on the finance committee.

Rebecca D. Lynch, RN, MHA

Senior VP and president, Virtua Medical Group

Rebecca D. Lynch is a senior vice president for Virtua Health and president of the Virtua Medical Group (VMG). She oversees the management and finance functions of VMG, a network of physicians exclusively affiliated with Virtua. More than 50 medical and surgical physician practices are located throughout the region, from primary care to complex medical and surgical specialties. She also serves as Virtua’s executive liaison to CVS and Fresenius.

Previously, Lynch served in numerous leadership positions including executive director for Virtua's health services network, business development and acquisitions, and occupational health and urgent care. In 2014, she joined the VMG leadership team as vice president of operations as Virtua merged its urgent care centers, ambulatory nutrition, diabetes education, and Virtua Occupational Health programs under the VMG division. She helped these programs, along with the Women’s medical specialty programs, prosper and forged strong alliances with many other Virtua departments, including facilities, access center, VirtuaCare ACO and marketing.

Prior to joining Virtua, Lynch held positions in corporate health services at Morristown Memorial Hospital, part of the Atlantic Health System. Her clinical experience includes positions in emergency medicine, critical care, trauma, orthopedics and surgical intensive care.

Lynch earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. She is a member of nursing honorary society Sigma Theta Tau.

Debra Moran

Senior Vice President of Health Equity and Community Programs

Debra Moran is senior vice president of health equity and community programs for Virtua Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in southern New Jersey. In her role, Moran oversees Virtua’s strategic initiatives to make comprehensive care services more accessible and equitable to diverse populations – with extra focus on under-represented, often marginalized individuals. Signature projects include the award-winning Eat Well food access program and the Healthy Neighbor program, in partnership with Medtronic LABS. Moran also has oversight for the pulmonary service line, security, sleep centers, wound care, children’s behavioral health programs (CASTLE), and Virtua’s childcare center.

Moran is noted for progressive leadership and a demonstrated history of colleague engagement, physician relations, community building, and effective operations. A native of Camden, N.J., Moran supports Virtua’s robust city campus at 1000 Atlantic Avenue, in addition to the multi-purpose health and wellness center in Berlin, N.J.

Moran is formerly the vice president of community-based services and, prior, vice president and site administrator for Virtua Marlton Hospital. She first joined Virtua in 1975.

Moran earned a Master of Science in organizational and strategic leadership from Neumann University in Aston, Penn. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in allied health management from Widener University in Chester, Penn.

Mark Nessel

Senior VP and president, Virtua Marlton and Voorhees hospitals

Mark Nessel is a senior vice president for Virtua Health and president of Virtua’s hospitals in Marlton and Voorhees. He was previously president of Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. Nessel is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of his hospitals’ facilities and implementing the health system’s strategy.

Prior to joining Virtua, Nessel served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Lourdes Health System, where he oversaw operations for Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County. He provided leadership oversight for the development of high-quality, safe and cost-effective services, and had direct administrative oversight for nursing, mental health services, surgical services, plant operations, pharmacy, laboratory, food services, security, information systems, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and Imaging. Nessel was also responsible for enforcing procedures to ensure patient and physician satisfaction, as well as high employee morale. He has been highly engaged in the health system's journey to become a High-Reliability Organization.

Before his tenure at Lourdes, Nessel served as a senior vice president at St. Mary Medical Center and Aria Health.

Nessel earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Temple University. He sits on the board of directors of Catholic Housing and Community Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Christine Palms

As the senior vice president of tertiary services and planning at Virtua Health, Christine Palms provides leadership, development, and executive oversight of strategic initiatives for advanced care services across the health system. Palms collaborates with VMG operations, hospital operations, and service line leaders to ensure alignment and execution of plans to further Virtua Health as a regional destination for advanced medical and surgical care. Prior, Palms held various clinical and administrative management positions within the healthcare industry, including her role as Virtua's vice president of transplant services. Holding undergraduate degrees in nursing and biology from Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center and Rutgers University respectively, Palms also obtained a Master of Science in health sciences from New Jersey City University. Palms is deeply committed to enhancing healthcare accessibility, focusing intently on the quality of care and the improvement of patient outcomes. In addition to serving as a transplant advisory committee member for the National Kidney Foundation, Palms is on the committee that organizes the National Transplant Management Forum.

Rita Veterano, RN, BSN, MSHA

Senior Vice President of Integrated Care Management and Home Health Services

In this role, Veterano oversees system-wide case management, utilization management and home health services. Her team also supports Virtua Medical Group with psychotherapy, social work services and clinical triage. Prior to transitioning into this role, Veterano served as Virtua’s Vice President of Integrated Care Management. Veterano is an accomplished healthcare leader with over 35 years of experience. In previous positions, she participated in case management and social work services; contracting and credentialing for managed care; and overseeing healthcare services for school-age children. A graduate of Methodist School of Nursing, her clinical experience includes critical care, medical/surgical and ambulatory health care. Veterano is Six Sigma coach certified and green belt trained. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Master of Science in Health Administration with academic distinction from the University of St. Francis. Veterano is a member of the American Nurses Association and serves on the board of Memorial Ambulatory Surgical Center.

Senior Vice President of Integrated Solutions

A certified public accountant and a member of the AICPA, NJCPA, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Wajda began her health care career at Rancocas Valley Hospital, which later became Virtua Willingboro Hospital. Following more than 20 years of hospital financial management and health care consultant roles, Wajda joined Virtua in 2003 and has held numerous strategic and financial positions. She leads the integrated solutions group consisting of the operational excellence and planning and business analytics departments. These teams provide performance improvement, process re-engineering, project management, strategic planning, and business analytics supporting all Virtua business units. Projects include acquisitions, new business lines, data integrity, reporting structures, and hospital campus transformation projects. Wajda holds a degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Rowan University, an MBA from St. Joseph’s University, and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the University of Michigan. She serves on various boards, including Vantage Surgery Center.
