Virtua’s sleep program receives national accreditation
Virtua Sleep Centers in Marlton and Voorhees have been awarded accreditation in sleep medicine, resulting from a survey by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the national accrediting body for sleep centers. Virtua’s sleep centers provide both overnight and daytime sleep studies for individuals with sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and other sleep issues. They also offer pediatric sleep studies for children with sleep apnea and narcolepsy.
Virtua sleep centers demonstrated that their policies, procedures and practices met or exceeded AASM’s high standards for professional healthcare. They proved physician and staff adherence to the highest standards of sleep medicine care.
“The AASM accreditation is evidence of our continuing commitment to the highest standards of care in sleep medicine,” says Dr. Angel Rodis, pulmonologist and medical director of Virtua’s Marlton and Voorhees Sleep Centers. “The surveyors were particularly complimentary of our home-like facilities.”
Dean Mazzoni, vice president of operations at Virtua Marlton, adds, “Our sleep medicine experts are very passionate about providing excellent patient care. This accreditation is yet another differentiator that shows why Virtua is truly the best choice for health care.”
Four of Virtua’s five Sleep Centers are now fully AASM accredited, and the fifth Center – the newest in Washington Township –is in the process of applying for full accreditation.
Established in 1975 as the Association of Sleep Disorders Centers, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine is the only professional society dedicated exclusively to the medical subspecialty of sleep medicine. As the leading voice in the field of sleep medicine, the AASM sets standards and promotes excellence in health care, education and research.
