Eric Sztejman, MD, MMM
Senior Vice President of Acute Care Services
Eric Sztejman, MD, MMM, is senior vice president of acute care services for Virtua Health. In this role, he partners with clinical and administrative leaders to advance quality outcomes, strengthen operational performance, and support the strategic transformation of acute services across the health system.
A board-certified pulmonologist, critical care physician, and sleep medicine specialist, Dr. Sztejman has been with Virtua Health since 2006. His clinical interests have focused on caring for adults with complex respiratory and sleep-related conditions, while his leadership roles have included oversight of clinical operations across multiple specialty service lines and acute care facilities. He is widely recognized for his patient-centered approach and mentorship of new physicians.
In addition to his clinical and operational leadership, Dr. Sztejman has contributed to medical literature on topics such as pulmonary disease, sepsis, and pneumonia, reflecting his commitment to advancing care and improving outcomes. He is also passionate about community-focused and philanthropic efforts that support patients, families, and neighbors throughout South Jersey. Along with his family, Dr. Sztejman raises funds to support Virtua Health's Thanksgiving turkey and produce giveaway each November.
Dr. Sztejman earned his medical degree from the Saba University School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at Hahnemann University Hospital. He completed fellowship training in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. In 2023, he earned a Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
