Sam Weiner, MD, MMM, is a senior vice president of ambulatory services and chief medical officer for the Virtua Medical Group (VMG). In this role, Dr. Weiner leads the development, growth, and execution of the clinical vision for Virtua Health’s ambulatory enterprise, aligned with Virtua Health’s mission, values, and system-wide strategic priorities.
Since becoming the Chief Medical Officer for VMG in 2020, Dr. Weiner has guided the expansion and strategic transformation of VMG’s ambulatory clinical operations. He is responsible for financial stewardship and operational performance across VMG, including optimizing care models, strengthening clinical productivity, improving value based contract outcomes, and driving total cost of care improvements.
Dr. Weiner provides mentorship and support to physicians and clinical leaders to drive career development and improve clinical performance. He leads physician retention, wellness, and engagement strategies, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and clinical excellence.
Dr. Weiner holds a master’s degree in medical management from the Heinz College of Business at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. He completed his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Deeply engaged in community service, Dr. Weiner serves on the board of the Cherry Hill Free Clinic, supporting access to high-quality care for uninsured and underinsured individuals throughout the region. He was recently accepted into the prestigious Health Management Academy Physician Fellows Program and will complete the program in 2028.
He has completed Virtua’s Leadership Program and has been named a “Top Doc” in New Jersey.
