Let's All Be Here For Good.
We’re here to care for you — and we ask the same in return.
At Virtua Health, being here for good means creating a place where every patient, visitor, and team member feels safe, respected, and welcome. Working together helps us provide the best possible care.
At Virtua, we live our culture through co-designed Guiding Principles that reflect who we are and how we work together. We ask that you treat us in the manner we treat you.
We Care Compassionately.
We approach every person with empathy and kindness. We ask you to do the same by treating our doctors, nurses, staff, and fellow patients with the caring words and actions you would want for yourself or a loved one.
We Communicate Thoughtfully.
We listen carefully and speak with respect. We ask that you share your concerns, questions, and needs openly and that you communicate with our team in a way that is respectful, even when situations are stressful.
We Invite Belonging.
We welcome people of every background, identity, and circumstance. We ask you to help us create an inclusive environment where everyone is treated with dignity and feels they belong.
We Deliver Excellence.
We are committed to providing the highest quality care. We ask that you support this goal by following the guidance of your care team and respecting the rules that help us keep everyone safe.

Important Legal Notice: Assault Is a Crime in New Jersey
Under New Jersey's Health Care Heroes Act, it is a crime to assault any health care professional, employee, or volunteer at a health care facility.
This offense is punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of up to $1,000, or both. More serious assaults carry harsher penalties.
This notice is displayed throughout our facilities as required by law.
What Happens If This Code Is Violated
We understand that illness, uncertainty, and worry can feel overwhelming. If we believe this Code has been violated, we will listen to your perspective and consider the circumstances before deciding what action is appropriate.
If these expectations are not met, we may take the following steps to protect patients, visitors, and team members:
- Patients may be asked to leave and arrange care elsewhere when their needs are not an emergency. Future non-emergency care at Virtua may also be reviewed.
- Visitors may be asked to leave and may be restricted from returning.
- Serious incidents, including violence, threats, or criminal behavior, will be reported to law enforcement.
We expect these situations to be rare.
How to Report Concerns
If you witness or experience any behavior that violates this Code, please tell a member of your care team or speak with Security. We take all reports seriously and will respond appropriately.
We're Here for Good—Together
Most patients and visitors share our commitment to compassion, respect, and belonging. By following this Code, you help protect everyone and allow our care teams to focus on what matters most: your health, healing, and well-being.
Thank you for helping us keep Virtua warm, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
Our Healthcare Colleagues are Protected by New Jersey Law
Assault against healthcare workers, including professionals, volunteers, staff, or employees while performing their duties is a crime punishable by imprisonment, fine or both. (N.J.S.A. 2C:1-1, et seq.) We maintain zero tolerance to ensure a safe, healing environment for all. Abusive language, threats, harassment, assault, and weapons on the property are never acceptable and will not be tolerated.
Safety Measures for Virtua Visitors
To help maintain a safe environment for everyone, Virtua has implemented the following safety measures for hospital visitors.
To help maintain a safe environment for everyone, Virtua hospitals use the Evolv weapons-screening system at visitor entrances. As you enter, walk through the screening area at a normal pace without stopping to empty your pockets or remove common personal items such as keys, cell phones, or wallets. The system uses advanced sensor technology to distinguish everyday belongings from potential weapons, allowing visitors to enter quickly and efficiently. If additional screening is needed, a security team member will provide assistance.
To help provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients, families, and guests, all visitors must check in upon arrival. Visitors will have their photo taken and receive a temporary visitor pass displaying their name, photo, and the current date. Please wear your visitor pass visibly at all times during your visit. This quick and convenient process helps maintain a secure environment for everyone.
