Tracy Carlino is senior vice president and chief nursing officer for Virtua. In this position, she establishes and facilitates the Standards of Nursing Practice at Virtua, and provides the vision for patient care practice across the population served by Virtua. Carlino coordinates nursing strategy and goals for all areas to reach organizational success to deliver outstanding customer experience and excellent quality. This includes partnering with physician leadership and other senior leaders to ensure system-wide intra-professional teamwork.
Prior to her current position, Carlino was vice president of patient care services for Virtua Marlton and Virtua Voorhees hospitals, assistant vice president for community health services, has management experience in wellness programs, bariatric surgery and Virtua’s weight loss programs, and was a certified diabetes educator, having coordinated the first ADA certified diabetes education program still in existence today. Carlino began her career at Virtua as a staff nurse in Camden.
Carlino earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at LaSalle University, and holds a Master of Arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. She completed the Johnson & Johnson/Wharton fellowship program for nursing executives at the University of Pennsylvania.
A Six Sigma black belt and mentor, Carlino is also a two-time recipient of Virtua’s SuperStar award for leadership and for her role in development, assimilation and workflow process at the new Virtua Voorhees Hospital. Carlino has been an editor for Springhouse Book Publications on the subject of diabetes, and participates in numerous professional associations, with a particular interest in the American Diabetes Association, where she was a council member. Carlino actively volunteers in the community, including her local youth softball association, home and school association and Junior Achievement.
