Tracy Carlino

Tracy Carlino, DNP, RN, is Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Virtua. In this role, Carlino passionately leads nearly 3,000 nurses and other healthcare professionals across the Virtua system. She establishes and facilitates standards of nursing practice, clinical education, clinical transformation, research, and customer service at Virtua. She is leading Virtua’s first ANCC Magnet Journey supporting excellence at Virtua. 

As an experienced health care executive, she partners with all clinicians, physician leadership and other senior leaders to ensure system-wide inter professional teamwork and collaboration to provide an outstanding patient experience and exceptional quality.  
Carlino started her Virtua career while in nursing school as a unit secretary and patient care aide in Camden. Throughout her career in nursing she has been certified in medical/surgical nursing, diabetes educator and currently board certified by ANCC Nurse Executive - Advance. She completed the Johnson & Johnson/Wharton Fellowship program for nurse executives at the University of Pennsylvania. She has led many system programs including community health services and diabetes services, establishing Virtua’s first ADA certified program still in existence today. Among the highlights of Carlino’s accomplishments was her work on the Voorhees replacement hospital and coordination of the safe patient move from the old Voorhees hospital to the new hospital in 2011 where she served as VP of Patient Care Services.  

She is a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt, and served in the department of operations improvement for two years. She has been a Nurse Manager, Assistant Vice President for community health services and Vice President of patient care in two of Virtua’s acute care hospitals, Marlton and Voorhees, prior to her current role. 

Carlino earned her diploma in nursing from Helene Fuld School of Nursing, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at LaSalle University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from La Salle University. 

Carlino is a member of many professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau, American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and the Organization of Nurse Leaders-NJ (ONL-NJ), where she is a current Board member.  She is a member of the ONL-NJ Advocacy Committee and serves as an executive mentor. She is a member of Healthcare Management Academy’s CNO Collaborative and the Consumerism Collaborative. She serves on the Rowan College of Burlington County’s Nursing Advisory Board, and the Rutgers University – Camden’s Nursing Advisory Board.
