Many opportunities are available to give back as a Virtua volunteer.

Whether you spend time in a hospital, office setting, or serve as an auxiliary member in the community, you can become part of a dynamic network of caring people.

Volunteering On-Site

On-site volunteer positions include:

  • Hospital greeters
  • General office/clerical assistants
  • Surgical waiting room volunteers
  • Pastoral care ministers & lay visitors
  • Friendly visitors
  • Mobile Farmers Market

Volunteering Off-Site

Off-site volunteer positions include:

  • Hospice volunteers offer a compassionate presence through providing companionship and support to patients and their families. Volunteers bring kindness, dignity, and calm into the hospice experience through small but meaningful gestures such as reading, crafting, and sharing memories.  

How to Volunteer

We’d like you to join us—your superior interpersonal and communication skills, as well as unique ability to show compassion and provide support, will make you shine here at Virtua.

There are opportunities for both adult and junior volunteers (ages 14-18). If you would like information on volunteering, please contact the facility/program of your choice:

The coordinator of that location will review our automated application process with you and the available assignments depending on your interests. Prior to starting, you will be scheduled to attend an orientation and trained in the department to which you are assigned.

Join the Auxiliaries

The Auxiliaries to Virtua Health have a long history of service to our patients and community that spans more than 70 years. Comprised of community-based groups located across South Jersey, the Auxiliaries serve as ambassadors of Virtua Health who organize a variety of fundraising events and outreach activities throughout the year to benefit our patients and community. New members are always welcome to help continue the tradition of service.
