Surgical Care

Quality Measures: Surgical Care

Approximately 40% of all hospital-associated infections in the U.S. occur among surgical patients. Therefore, focusing on prevention can significantly reduce overall infection rates. Measures such as preventive use of antibiotics before, during and up to 24 hours after surgery may reduce the likelihood of infection.
