Lauren Rowinski, JD

Lauren Rowinski is senior vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary for Virtua and provides leadership to Virtua’s Legal, Risk Management and Privacy Teams under the Office of the General Counsel.

Prior to joining Virtua in October 2016, Rowinski worked for MedStar Health, Inc., a large Mid-Atlantic healthcare system headquartered in Columbia, Maryland. During her career with MedStar, Rowinski held progressively responsible positions, last serving for several years as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. She was the strategic legal partner to MedStar’s Digital Health Officer, Performance Improvement Office, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Service Line, Patient Quality & Safety, Real Estate, Marketing, Facilities & Materials Management, Human Resources, and a variety of operational leadership teams and special projects. Some of her accomplishments at MedStar included serving as lead counsel with operational negotiations teams for major commercial, IT, real estate, supply chain and other transactions; assisting in the expansion of the system’s orthopedics and sports medicine service line; successfully managing a multi-million dollar centralized outside counsel budget; developing a process for trademark/brand expansion and protection; and overseeing the system’s commercial and employment litigation matters and related discovery processes.

Prior to entering the healthcare industry, Rowinski was Regional Attorney for AT&T Corporation providing legal services in a multi-state area. She began her legal career with the law firms of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Reid & Priest in Washington, D.C.

Rowinski enjoys public speaking and has been a guest lecturer at Georgetown University in the Masters in Healthcare Administration Graduate Program and a speaker at a number of events, including for the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the D.C Women’s Bar Association, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and the American Conference Institute.

Rowinski received her Juris Doctor from Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America and her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY @ StonyBrook University.
