The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) has awarded the silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence to the Progressive Care Units (PCUs) at Virtua Marlton and Virtua Voorhees hospitals. This prestigious award recognizes nurses who set the standard for quality patient care.

The three-year Beacon Award for Excellence represents a significant milestone in exceptional care and healthy work environments. Specifically, the award recognizes caregivers who align practices with AACN’s Healthy Work Environment Standards.

“This award is a testament to Virtua’s PCU teams and their consistent use of evidence-based care to optimize patient outcomes,” said Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE, Virtua President and CEO. “These nurses have an incredibly close bond and work together to deliver outstanding, coordinated care. I am proud and pleased that their commitment and dedication have earned national recognition.”

Four PCUs in New Jersey have received the silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence during the last three years. Three of those are Virtua hospitals. (Virtua Memorial PCU received the award in 2018.) Other Virtua departments to earn the Beacon Award recently include the Intensive Care Units at Virtua Marlton and Voorhees, and the Special Care Nursery at Virtua Memorial.
