Virtua Health Earns 'Most Wired' Distinction 12 Consecutive Years
“Here for Good” health system is one of 19 “Level 10” awardees in the United States
October 13, 2023 - For the 12th consecutive year, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has named Marlton-based Virtua Health a “Most Wired” health system. Additionally, Virtua earned distinction as a Level 10 health system, which is CHIME’s top honor. Only 19 U.S. hospitals/health systems received Level 10 recognition.
Most Wired celebrates information technology (I.T.) divisions that drive the health care industry. Tom Gordon, senior vice president and chief information officer for South Jersey’s largest health system, has led Virtua’s I.T. division for more than a decade.
“Virtua Health is committed to delivering outstanding experiences to all, whether that’s our workforce, the patients we care for, or the wider community,” Gordon said. “Providing simple, satisfactory digital relationships requires a dedicated, hardworking team that mostly operates behind the scenes. That is why Most Wired recognition means so much to our I.T. colleagues and the wider health system.”
Among the more than 55,000 facilities represented by CHIME’s annual survey, Virtua Health ranked above its peers in categories like analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, and patient engagement. The CHIME program assesses the adoption, integration, and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, whether in early development or leading the industry.
Virtua Health has been a Most Wired health system for 15 nonconsecutive years. This year marks Virtua’s first time as a Level 10, having earned Level 9 distinction every year since CHIME introduced the rating system in 2019.
“Virtua’s I.T. division is integral to the overall success of our health system,” said John Matsinger, DO, MBA, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Virtua Health. “Much like our doctors, nurses, and other patient-facing colleagues, our I.T. staff contribute to our caring culture and commitment to being Here for Good.”
