Virtua Memorial Earns Spine Surgery Honors
Virtua Memorial Hospital Burlington County has been designated an Aetna Institute of Quality® Care Facility for spine surgery, and a Blue Distinction® Center for Spine Surgery by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions. Facilities are selected [IOQ] for consistently delivering evidence-based, safe care.
Blue Distinction® is a nationwide program of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) that recognizes facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering high quality healthcare and improved outcomes for patients.
“Virtua is honored to be recognized by both the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and Aetna Institute of Quality Care for high quality and clinical outcomes for the patients we serve,” said John Matsinger, DO Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer. “These designations are a tribute to the hard work and dedication that our patient care teams provide every day.”
“With top-notch surgeons and state-of-the-art technology, the goal of the Brain and Spine Institute at Virtua is to set the new standard of what spine care means in South Jersey,” said James Sanfilippo, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon and Chair of the Virtua Brain and Spine Institute. “The fact that Virtua Memorial is the only hospital in New Jersey to receive either one of these recognitions is a testament to the commitment to quality and high standards that our staff embodies and incorporate in the care of our patients.”
