The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for its expertise and commitment to high-quality care for patients undergoing transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures. The hospital recently earned Transcatheter Valve Certification following a comprehensive evaluation of its multidisciplinary team structure, formalized training processes, shared decision-making practices, and performance in national clinical registries.

“Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital has demonstrated its commitment to providing Southern New Jersey with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with Transcatheter Valve Certification.”

Virtua’s Structural Heart Program, based out of its Camden hospital, offers leading-edge treatments for abnormalities or defects affecting the heart’s walls, chambers, and valves—helping restore healthy function and enhance quality of life. Virtua’s cardiac specialists are at the forefront of structural heart care, performing groundbreaking, first-of-their-kind valve procedures that save lives.

Most treatments employ minimally invasive techniques, which reduce hospital stays and facilitate a faster, more comfortable recovery. Additionally, Virtua specialists are deeply involved in clinical trials, providing patients with access to advanced, innovative care close to home.

“We are proud to offer leading-edge transcatheter valve therapies that improve both quality of life and long-term outcomes for our patients,” said Ibrahim A. Moussa, DO, medical director of the Structural Heart Program at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. “This certification is a testament to the expertise of our multidisciplinary team and the rigorous standards we uphold every day,”

The ACC provides U.S. and international hospitals—including Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital—with a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to enhance patient outcomes and support operational performance. These services span the full spectrum of cardiac care, including transcatheter valve therapies.

This certification relies on national clinical measures to guide care decisions and connects process improvement efforts directly to patient outcomes. Hospitals that achieve Transcatheter Valve Certification gain access to best practices in evidence-based medicine, strengthen patient-centered decision-making, and track key performance metrics to identify opportunities for continued improvement.
