Virtua Welcomes Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgeon to Lead Cardiovascular Services
November 29, 2021 - Virtua Health is pleased to welcome Chun (Dan) Choi, MD, as vice president of clinical operations for the cardiovascular service line.
As a cardiothoracic and transplant surgeon, Dr. Choi joins Virtua from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was surgical director of the mechanical circulatory support program and associate program director of the cardiothoracic surgery residency program.
“We are excited to have Dr. Choi join the team as we enhance our cardiovascular center of excellence at Virtua and further establish a Delaware Valley destination for tertiary cardiovascular at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital,” said Virtua Health EVP and chief clinical officer Reginald (Reg) Blaber, MD, MBA, FACC. “His arrival is great news for the patients we serve.”

Dr. Choi also expressed he is pleased to once again reside in New Jersey, the state where he met his wife and where his daughter was born.
Dr. Choi authored dozens of peer-reviewed articles as well as abstracts and book chapters. He has served as principal investigator for several studies, with research involving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Association of American Medical Colleges. He is board-certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery and general surgery.
