Are you ready to meet with a surgeon to see if bariatric surgery is right for you?
Schedule your initial consultation with a bariatric surgeon. In this 30-minute appointment, you'll discuss your health history, BMI (body mass index), diet and exercise habits, and weight-loss goals. You'll also discuss the types of bariatric procedures to see what might work best for you.
If you choose to have bariatric surgery, a bariatric navigator will be your guide for the whole journey. Your navigator is your primary contact, helping you through the required steps before surgery, managing physician referrals, and answering your questions.
Your bariatric navigator will coordinate your appointments with clinicians who will help you optimize your health before surgery. This includes:
- Registered dietitians to prepare you now for the diet changes and nutrition requirements you need to lose weight and feel healthy after surgery
- Psychologist, who specializes in supporting bariatric patients, helps you identify current habits and overcome mental barriers so you can reach your weight-loss goals
- Pulmonologist, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, who will make sure you're healthy for surgery
- Other medical specialists, if needed, depending on your health history
Your bariatric navigator continues providing one-on-one support to aid your weight-loss success after surgery.
