If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, radiation therapy may be part of your treatment plan.
The Penn Medicine | Virtua Cancer Program offers personalized treatments based on your needs. With convenient locations throughout South Jersey and staffed by caring, expertly trained specialists, you’ll receive the most advanced radiation therapy that precisely targets cancer cells while sparing normal tissue. Our goal is to deliver an optimal dose of radiation to destroy tumors and keep them from reoccurring, while minimizing potential side effects.
The Penn Medicine | Virtua Health Radiation Oncology Program is led by an experienced group of board-certified, fellowship-trained radiation oncologists who specialize in cancer treatment techniques.
Our collaborative team also includes medical physicists, dosimetrists (implements treatment plan), radiation therapists, radiation oncology nurses, oncology social workers, oncology nurse navigators, and dietitians. Our multidisciplinary approach allows our experts to build personalized plans to treat you as a whole person, not just your disease.
You’ll find the most advanced radiation therapy techniques at the Penn Medicine | Virtua Health Radiation Oncology Program. Our experienced team will work with you to recommend an approach that is best suited for your condition. Treatment techniques include:

Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS): Pinpoints brain tumors with targeted radiation treatment without affecting healthy brain tissue
Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT): Delivers radiation to small areas within the body, such as the lung and spine
High-Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy: Delivers radiation directly into the tumor to treat types of gynecologic, breast, and non-melanoma skin cancers
Volumetric Arc Radiotherapy (VMAT): Delivers continuous radiation as the machine rotates, often used for head, neck, and prostate cancers
Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT): Targeting system delivers higher doses of radiation to the tumor while preserving nearby healthy tissue
Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT): Image matching technology targets and tracks the tumor for precise delivery of radiation
