Gregory G. Klingenstein, MD
- Fellowship Trained, Orthopedic Surgeon
- Subspecialty - Total Joint Replacement, Hip Arthroscopy
Dr. Klingenstein specializes in the treatment of hip pain in adolescents and young adults, as well as arthritis of the hip and knee. His practice focuses on both conservative and operative treatment of sports hip injuries and conditions resulting from congenital malformations. These childhood hip conditions often go undiagnosed and create problems in adolescence and later in life. They include tears to the ring of tissue around the hip socket, called labral tears, hip dysplasia, hip impingement, soft tissue injury, tendonitis and muscle strains, and can be brought on by everyday activity, accidents or sport-related injuries.
Dr. Klingenstein is one of only a handful of physicians in the US who are fellowship trained in hip arthroscopy (hip scope) and joint preservation. In addition, he also performs minimally invasive hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Klingenstein has lectured nationally and internationally on femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI), hip arthroscopy and total hip replacement bearing options for young, active patients. He has published peer-reviewed articles on FAI in athletes and biomechanics of total hip replacements.
"Helping my patients maintain or regain an active lifestyle is my primary goal. That's led me to focus on tissue-preserving hip and knee replacements, as well as joint-preserving techniques for early hip disease," he says.
