How much weight can I expect to lose?
You can expect to lose 1 to 5 pounds a week depending on the program option you choose. Total weight-loss results are dependent upon length of enrollment in the program and adherence to diet recommendations. Virtua’s medical weight-loss team works with you to choose a program that’s most suited to your goals.
What support will I have during the process?
Weekly on-site group workshops and check-ins provide education and support for your transition to a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Private sessions with a registered dietitian to guide healthy eating and behavior change also are included in your journey. Physician and psychologist visits are scheduled as needed.
Losing the weight is just the start. Virtua’s Continuation Program offers support for further weight loss or weight maintenance. You can choose a weekly or bi-weekly option. To ensure success, dietitian follow-up visits are required at least quarterly.
Is the program covered by insurance?
Some insurance companies provide coverage for your physician visits. A copay or deductible may apply depending on your specific plan. We strongly recommend you check with your insurance carrier regarding nutrition counseling benefits or review our insurance guide for more information. Once the appropriate program path for you is determined, you’ll be responsible for monthly program fees, the cost of your meal replacements or medications, if applicable, and any copays or deductibles required by your insurance.
