Mental health challenges look different for everyone. You may be feeling overwhelmed, struggling with mood changes, or supporting a loved one in crisis. No matter where you are in your journey, we provide compassionate, confidential care tailored to your needs.
Our integrated approach means your mental health care providers can work closely with your primary care provider and other specialists to support your overall well-being.
If you or someone you know is experiencing severe symptoms, feeling overwhelmed, and believes it’s not safe to wait for an appointment with a medical professional, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or go directly to your local emergency room.

What to Expect When You Seek Mental Health Care
Starting mental health treatment can feel like a big step, but this is a judgment-free space, and we encourage you to be honest about how you're feeling. Our goal is to help improve your emotional well-being. Here’s what typically happens:
You’ll meet with a provider who will ask about your symptoms, medical history, and goals.
We’ll work with you to develop a care plan that meets your unique needs, which may include therapy, medication, or specialized programs.
Your care team will adjust your treatment as your needs change, helping you make steady progress.
If needed, we collaborate with your primary care provider or other specialists to support your overall health.
You may be able to schedule some services directly, or your primary care provider can refer you.

The Virtua Difference for Mental Health Care
Mental health care, where and when you need it
Virtua is the first health system in South Jersey to embed mental and behavioral health services within primary care providers' offices. To help meet our patients' mental and emotional health needs in Virtua Primary Care practices, our primary care providers refer their patients to licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) who work within the practice. These LCSWs also provide telehealth therapy, giving patients flexible access to care.
