Pediatric Critical Care in the PICU: Helping Kids Be Kids Again

If your child requires critical care, our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) can provide therapies that might not be available in other hospitals. We help your child through this tough time to get him back on his feet again.

Helping your little one heal faster
State-of-the-art breathing machines and the most current medications are available to your child at the Virtua PICU. For children recovering from complex surgery or who are ill with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, infections, seizure or trauma, the Virtua PICU has intensive nursing care and monitoring.

For the highest level of care, Virtua has partnered with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to provide the area’s best pediatric critical care physicians at the Marvin Samson Foundation Pediatrics and Pediatric ICU at Virtua Voorhees hospital.

Alleviating stress for your family
To relieve the stress that hospitalization of a child can cause, the team also includes pediatric nurses with specialized training in pediatric critical care, and child-life specialists who incorporate age-appropriate activities for your child to help explain the procedures and treatments.
