Tracking Developmental Milestones

As your child grows, you notice every small development. But some kids may take a little longer than others – and may need some additional help along the way. If you’re concerned that your child isn’t making progress along developmental milestones, it may be time to turn to Virtua’s Early Intervention Program (EIP).

We provide a variety of therapeutic and support services to help infants and toddlers who have developmental delays. Virtua’s EIP specialists can evaluate your child at home or in other environments, such as childcare sites, to determine if he or she is experiencing developmental delays. Our specialists assess your child’s self-help skills such as feeding, learning abilities, communication skills, motor skills, sensory development and social interactions.

Parents do not need a physician referral to access this service. To be eligible, children must meet certain criteria such as:

  • Be younger than 3 years old
  • Show measurable and defined deficits in specific areas
  • Already have specific medical diagnoses, such as autism, impaired hearing or cerebral palsy
The Early Intervention Program is funded, in part, by the New Jersey Department of Health and funds from part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act from the Federal Government. If eligible, our evaluation team will create an Individual Family Service Plan to help your child develop to his or her fullest potential.
