Bedside Experts at Your Service

At Virtua, we know that if you are having a stroke, a state-of-the-art technology called teleneurology can make a huge difference in the care you receive. Teleneurology lets our emergency room physicians have round-the-clock access to neurologists via real-time, two-way audio and video communication.

Together, they can consult with you and your family, view your test results and administer appropriate treatments as quickly as possible. This level of efficiency is especially important in treating your stroke symptoms because speed matters.

For example, if tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) - the only approved treatment for acute ischemic stroke - is your best option, it must be administered within a three-hour window of your first symptoms in order for it to be effective.

With such unprecedented and reliable access to diagnosis and treatment, rest assured you’re improving the likelihood of your successful recovery from a stroke. We are the first hospital network to offer this innovative emergency room system in the state of New Jersey. It’s just one of many reasons why Virtua makes sense to be your first choice for healthcare.
